В прошлом месяце злоумышленники совершили более 20 успешных кибератак и заработали на 61,7% меньше, чем в августе. Сильнее остальных пострадала сингапурская криптовалютная биржа BingX, которая в результате взлома лишилась цифровых активов на $40 млн. Далее следует игровая блокчейн-платформа Penpie с убытками в размере $27 млн. Криптобиржа Indodax оказалась на третьем месте по потерям, которые превысили $21 млн. Среди других заметных инцидентов сентябре стоит отметить похищение цифровых активов на $5,98 млн у платформы DeltaPrime и $5,6 млн – у Truflation.

В августе криптовалютные компании понесли гораздо больше убытков из-за хакеров. В результате 10 кибератак стартапы потеряли монеты на сумму более $300 млн. Всего в третьем квартале 2024 года произошёл 31 взлом, из-за которого были похищены виртуальные валюты стоимостью $409,9 млн, а мошенники прикарманили свыше $3 млн.

По данным экспертов Immunefi, самыми уязвимыми в третьем квартале стали централизованные финансовые платформы. На их долю пришлось почти 75% взломов. Чаще всего хакеры атаковали блокчейн Ethereum (15 инцидентов), далее следуют сети BNB Chain и Base.
