Five Russian nationals laundered "millions of dollars" worth of cryptocurrency as part of a scheme to smuggle military technology and oil, according to an announcement issued by the US Department of Justice. yury Orekhov, ArtemUss, Svetlana Kuzurgasheva (Lana Neumann), Timofey Telegin and Sergey Tulyakov are accused of trying to evade sanctions against Venezuelan oil producers and obtain technology for use in the US F-22 air superiority fighter jet. The defendants allegedly used shell companies and cryptocurrencies to launder funds involved in the scheme.
