On May 4, AI agent tool OpenClaw released its version 2026.5.3 update, focusing on optimizing the file transfer mechanism, real-time task control capabilities, and the security of the plugin system. This update introduces the 'Node Pairing File Transfer' feature, which allows direct file transfer between multiple nodes, with default access denial and a 16MB transfer limit to enhance security. Additionally, the /steer command has been introduced, enabling real-time intervention on running agents without interrupting current tasks, while the /side command allows for quick side questions to avoid disrupting the main task flow. In terms of the plugin ecosystem, OpenClaw has strengthened the installation and update processes, supporting official npm packages, a ClawHub rollback mechanism, and dependency status detection, while also improving vulnerability fixes and exception recovery capabilities. Furthermore, communication channels across multiple platforms (including WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram, Slack, etc.) have also seen optimizations in transfer stability and status feedback. The development team stated that this version focuses on reducing user friction and enhancing system reliability, enabling AI agents to operate with greater stability and security in complex environments over extended periods.
