Over the past seven days, HYPE has climbed nearly 6%, trading just above $40 and making it one of the strongest performers among large-cap cryptocurrencies. The surge comes right after Grayscale filed for a new investment product—a proposed “HYPE ETF” that could eventually trade on Nasdaq if it gets regulatory approval.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin hasn’t shown much movement. It’s hovering around $70,943, reflecting a broader pause across major cryptocurrencies.
So why is HYPE gaining momentum?
A big driver is Hyperliquid’s growing role in trading beyond crypto. The platform has seen a spike in activity as traders increasingly use it to speculate on commodities like gold and oil—especially during weekends when traditional financial markets are closed.
Recent geopolitical tensions, including conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran, have also contributed to this trend. With conventional exchanges offline during certain hours, platforms like Hyperliquid offer continuous access, attracting traders looking to react in real time.
That demand is translating into strong performance. HYPE is now up about 56% since the start of the year.
The platform’s rapid growth is also drawing institutional attention. This week, the S&P 500 approved a new derivative product linked to Trade[XYZ], allowing non-U.S. investors to gain exposure to the index via Hyperliquid. Just two days after launch, the product recorded $100 million in daily trading volume—quickly becoming one of the top markets on the blockchain.
In short, while Bitcoin is catching its breath, Hyperliquid is riding a wave of momentum driven by innovation, accessibility, and shifting trader behavior.
