Bitcoin's Quantum Scare Already Priced In, Says Bernstein

Bitcoin's approximately 50% pullback is seen as reflecting market concern over quantum computing risks.

Google research has revived debate, but developers are believed to have several years to respond.

The main hurdle is coordinating adoption of new standards, not building the technology itself.

Bitcoin's downturn appears to have already accounted for much of the uncertainty surrounding quantum computing, according to Bernstein analysts. The asset's approximately 50% fall from its October 2025 peak of US$126,198 (AU$178,180) is seen as evidence that investors have priced in multiple emerging risks. Despite heightened concern, the firm argues that the threat remains manageable in the near term.

Interest in the issue has grown following findings from Google researchers on the capabilities of future quantum systems. Their analysis suggests that, in theory, a Bitcoin private key could be broken in about nine minutes using advanced quantum hardware. Such projections have prompted renewed scrutiny over how quickly Bitcoin must evolve its security model.

High Roller stock more than doubles on prediction markets partnership with Crypto.com



High Roller Technologies Inc. (ROLR) stock more than doubled after the online casino operator said it planned to introduce an event-based prediction market in the U.S. in conjunction with Crypto.com.

The Las Vegas-based company said Tuesday it will initially offer its customers Crypto.com Derivatives North America (CDNA) event contracts in the U.S. across finance, sports and entertainment. CDNA is a CFTC-registered exchange and clearinghouse and affiliate of Crypto.com. It didn't say when the planned market would start operating.

The company's share rose as much as 130% and were recently 65% higher at $8.32. Crypto.com’s CRO token gained 3% after the announcement to 7 cents.

Prediction markets have quickly gone from being niche betting platforms to a growing sector of sophisticated trading platforms that aggregate real-world event probabilities. Leading participants include Kalshi, a CFTC-regulated U.S. exchange for event contracts, and Polymarket, one of the largest decentralized markets covering politics, sports and economics. The market is expected to mature into one with trading volume in excess of $1 trillion by 2030, according to High Roller.

Prediction markets are running at an annualized revenue rate above $3 billion, up from about $2 billion in December, and could reach $10 billion by 2030, according to a recent report by U.S. bank Citizens.

One analyst on X, however, is not buying it, and his reasoning is based on one of the most consistent patterns in Bitcoin’s price history.

Why Rising Bullish Sentiment Can Cause More Downside
Bitcoin’s sentiment is now slowly turning bullish again, which is a reflection of its price action in recent days. However, according to crypto analyst Max, the gradual return of optimism across social media and trading circles is a warning sign.

Max, who shared his outlook on X alongside a multi-cycle Bitcoin chart, proposed that the re-emergence of bullish sentiment at this point is precisely what should concern investors. “When sentiment slowly starts turning bullish again,” he wrote, “that’s usually your sign that the bottom isn’t in yet.”

Max pointed out that recent discussions around a cycle bottom forming already, along with predictions of a historic rally, mirror sentiment conditions that have always appeared before further downside moves. In short, the crowd turning optimistic too early could mean the market has not yet completed its corrective phase.

This outlook is based on the fact that the Bitcoin price has not yet produced the structural conditions that have historically confirmed cycle lows. He identifies three specific cycle low signals that are currently absent on the Bitcoin chart: total capitulation, repeated sweeps of the lows, and a confirmed change in market structure on the weekly timeframe.

A Crypto-Spin For TradFi In South Korea

TradFi continues its race to not be left behind DeFi innovation. This time, however, a traditional payments giant most recent move is not aimed at just integrating with crypto, but it’s actually spinning up its own chain intended at real‐world payments.

According to The Block, NHN KCP, one of South Korea’s biggest payment processors, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Avalanche developer Ava Labs to build its own payments‐focused Layer 1.

Avalanche is a high‐performance Layer 1 blockchain platform designed for smart contracts and custom blockchains, with near‐instant transaction finality and low fees.

The planned L1 will be built via Ava Cloud and optimized for real‐world payments: sub‐second payment authorization, on‐chain transaction data encryption, and customizable merchant payment infrastructure. NHN KCP and Ava Labs want to plug in tokenized deposits, multi‐stablecoin settlement, and cross‐border payments on top of that base layer.

Jun-seok Park, CEO of NHN KCP, said in a statement:

This agreement is highly significant as it combines NHN KCP’s industry-leading payment operational expertise with world-class blockchain technology to derive an innovative model that can be immediately applied to real-world business.

The pair intend to test whether the project is technically viable via a proof‐of‐concept, and to broaden their ties with financial and payment firms worldwide.

Rising Optimism Could Be a Warning Sign
Crypto analyst Max, writing on X, argues that the return of bullish sentiment may actually indicate that Bitcoin has not yet reached a true market bottom.
According to his analysis, history shows that when optimism begins to slowly return after deep corrections, markets often still have further downside ahead. In his view, premature confidence has repeatedly appeared during mid-cycle recoveries rather than at final bottoms.
Key Bottom Signals Still Missing
Max highlights that several important technical conditions associated with past Bitcoin cycle lows have not yet appeared, including:
Full capitulation events
Multiple retests and breakdowns of recent lows
A confirmed structural trend reversal on the weekly timeframe
Without these signals, he argues, it is difficult to confirm that a durable bottom has been established.
Historical Cycle Patterns Suggest Longer Correction
Looking at previous Bitcoin cycles, bear market phases have consistently lasted around one year following major cycle peaks:
2013 peak → ~427 days of decline
2018 peak → ~365 days of decline
2021 peak → ~365 days of decline
While each cycle has shown diminishing drawdowns over time, the duration of corrections has remained relatively consistent.
Based on this historical structure, Max suggests that the current cycle—starting from the October 2025 peak—may still be following a similar timeline.
