Strategy founder Michael Saylor made a noteworthy assessment of Bitcoin amid discussions about the impact of AI technologies on the global economy. Saylor described Bitcoin as “digital capital resilient to AI-driven transformations.”

Saylor’s remarks came in response to comments from technology investor and former Meta Platforms executive Chamath Palihapitiya, who suggested that artificial intelligence could erode companies’ competitive advantages faster than expected.

According to Palihapitiya, rapid advancements in artificial intelligence could weaken companies’ long-term growth potential and make their stock valuations more dependent on short-term profitability.

Saylor argued that in such an environment, investor capital might shift towards assets less affected by technological shifts. According to him, Bitcoin stands out as a suitable asset due to its limited supply and decentralized nature. Saylor stated that Bitcoin could assume the role of “digital capital” in the global financial system.

Palihapitiya had previously suggested that a 30 to 40 percent drop in long-term asset values could create a significant shift in global markets. In this scenario, he noted, investors might turn to lower-risk assets such as infrastructure projects or short-term government bonds.

On the other hand, Palihapitiya also raised the issue that quantum computers could pose a potential threat to cryptographic systems in the future. Saylor argued that such a development would affect not only Bitcoin but the entire digital ecosystem, including internet infrastructure, banking systems, and artificial intelligence platforms, making a comprehensive technological update inevitable.

First Ledger, a trading platform on the $XRP Ledger, has shared a fact about XRPL's relatively lower transaction fees. The $XRP Ledger participant engaged with a tweet that highlighted that it costs about $0.004 to execute a transaction on Solana, implying a user would need to send 2,500 transactions just to spend $10 in fees.

First Ledger noted that it costs about $0.0000152 to execute a transaction on the $XRP Ledger, implying that a user might need to send 1,000,000 transactions just to spend $15.20 in fees.

$XRP Ledger was launched in June 2012 and presents a core value proposition of cheap transactions relative to other currency-focused networks, as well as native functionalities for NFTs, escrow and DEX.

Transaction fees are systematically burned on the $XRP Ledger, gradually reducing the total supply of 100 billion $XRP. Since $XRP Ledger’s inception, more than 14.3 million $XRP have been burned.

Monthly, one billion $XRP is released from escrow to Ripple every month. Any $XRP not spent or distributed by Ripple in that month is put into new escrow contracts. This system will continue until the remaining $XRP in the escrow becomes liquid.

In a major development, $XRP Ledger now has more than 7.7 million holders, meaning nonempty wallets, for the first time in its history, as its usage continues to grow. Monday closed with a five-week high of 46,767 active addresses as $XRP's price jumped nearly 14% in a matter of 48 hours, surpassing $1.60.

Bitcoin treasury firm Strategy has just revealed a new acquisition involving 22,337 BTC, making it the fifth-largest purchase ever by the company.
In a new post on X, Strategy co-founder and chairman Michael Saylor has shared the details related to the latest Bitcoin acquisition completed by the treasury company. This buy saw the addition of 22,337 BTC to Strategy’s reserves, which is one of the largest purchases ever made by the firm.
The last time that the company made a larger buy was all the way back in November 2024, when it added 55,500 BTC in one swoop. That same month actually also saw two other purchases larger than the latest one, involving 51,780 and 27,200 tokens. Finally, there was also a larger acquisition of 29,646 BTC in 2020, meaning that the new buy is the fifth largest on record.

In US dollar terms, the purchase cost Strategy $70,194 per token or $1.57 billion in total. While its the fifth largest buy in BTC denomination, it’s only the ninth largest in the USD. The difference is due to the company having to spend more on some smaller stacks as a consequence of a higher BTCUSD rate at the time.

As is tradition, Saylor teased the new buy in a Sunday X post, this time sharing the company’s Bitcoin portfolio tracker with the caption “Stretch the Orange Dots.”

According to the filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Strategy funded this new acquisition using proceeds from its STRC and MSTR at-the-market (ATM) stock offerings. The purchase has now taken the firm’s total holdings to 761,068 BTC, equivalent to about 3.8% of the cryptocurrency’s supply in circulation.
