If the bill passes, ETH falls under CFTC oversight as a digital commodity, and the classification debate blocking institutional capital ends in one vote. Ethereum trades at $1,917 per CoinMarketCap, up 1.45% this week, bouncing before the final draft has even landed. Support holds at $1,700 and resistance near $1,940. The ethereum price prediction from Standard Chartered targets $10,000 long term, pushing the market cap to roughly $1.2 trillion. But here is what no price target shows. The fortune in ETH was made at $0.31, and every dollar invested there returned over fifteen thousand. 

At $1,917 and a $233 billion cap, the math that produced those returns is structurally gone. The upside is real, but it is the grinding kind that takes years to deliver what early timing delivered in months.

Strategy’s lead is not close. It is approximately 843,775 $BTC, which works out to more than 19 times what second-place Twenty One Capital holds. Saylor started buying bitcoin for the former Microstrategy in 2020, back when the idea of a Nasdaq-listed software company converting its treasury into bitcoin sounded fringe.

Five years later, that decision defines the company. Strategy now trades largely as a leveraged bet on bitcoin’s price, which explains why the stock has fallen 40% in 2026 even as its bitcoin holdings kept growing. The company first sold 32 $BTC in late May to help fund preferred stock dividend payments, its first net bitcoin sale in years. Even after those transactions, Strategy has remained the world’s largest corporate bitcoin holder by a wide margin, showing that the sales reflected capital management rather than a retreat from its long-term bitcoin strategy.
