A CoinDesk op-ed now argues that tokenization could be the mechanism that finally pushes these instruments beyond institutional walls and onto Main Street balance sheets.Conventional weather derivatives—temperature-based contracts, rainfall swaps, hurricane bonds—require capital, prime brokerage relationships, and legal infrastructure that shut out smaller players. A mid-sized farm facing a drought can’t easily buy a tailored seasonal payout. The paper-based and over-the-counter nature of these contracts adds cost and complexity. In practice, most of the economy absorbs weather shocks directly.

Tokenization changes the math. By representing weather-linked cash flows as smart contracts on public blockchains, a farmer in Brazil or a roofing contractor in Florida could, in theory, purchase a parametric hedge without going through a bank. Oracles feed verified weather data on-chain, automation handles settlement, and fractional ownership lets users buy only the protection they need. The core logic isn’t new to DeFi, but the real-world impact would be.

The argument lands at a moment when real-world asset tokenization has stopped being a concept and started posting numbers. On-chain RWAs recently crossed $20 billion, with live institutional Treasury settlement between Ondo Finance and JPMorgan marking a regulatory and operational milestone. National Fraternal Order of Police Gives Green Light to Clarity Act in Latest Support for Crypto Bill

The National Fraternal Order of Police became the latest organization to throw its support behind the long-awaited Clarity Act. 

In a statement Friday, specifically addressed to Democratic senators Elizabeth Warren and Timothy Eugene Scott, the fraternal organization wrote that it approved of the latest bill. The FOP works to improve the working conditions of law enforcement officers.

The newest draft bans officials and their families from issuing or promoting crypto, something opposition lawmakers previously had issue with. On Wednesday, Senator Warren, a long-time crypto critic, said that the latest bill would allow President Donald Trump to make money from crypto, as well as benefit criminals. 

“The latest version of the ‘Clarity Act’ includes several provisions that improve the ability of State and local law enforcement to protect consumers, investigate financial crimes, and coordinate with their Federal partners,” the letter read. 

“The revised bill establishes safeguards aimed at addressing fraud and victimization involving digital asset kiosks and related activity while also providing for anti-money laundering and sanctions compliance obligations across the digital asset ecosystem.”

U.S. lawmakers are currently mulling over the latest draft of the Clarity Act — a crypto market structure bill aims to set in stone digital asset regulation. 

More support for the bill 

Top crypto advocacy groups the Crypto Council for Innovation, Blockchain Association, and the Digital Chamber also threw their support behind the latest draft of the Clarity Act on Friday. 

The trade associations said that passing the bill is necessary to establish the “first comprehensive federal consumer protection framework for digital asset markets” as more Americans begin to use and invest in crypto.

Separately, $XDC’s co-founder demonstrated $XDC AI as a framework combining agentic AI, gasless $USDC payments and settlement on the $XDC Network, highlighting the project’s growing focus on autonomous commerce.

Infrastructure Keeps Building Despite Weak Price

Another ecosystem update came as Quote Trade added native support for $XDC Network and $USDC. According to the $XDC Foundation, the integration introduces a private execution venue for treasury operations, market making, hedging and AI-agent trading without relying on bridges or wrapped assets.

The attack often begins through a Telegram account that the target already trusts. The hackers take over accounts belonging to crypto contacts, then send a Calendly invitation that leads to a lookalike meeting domain. JUMPSEC described the system as a repeatable victim pipeline because one stolen Telegram session can help the attackers contact the next group of targets.The phishing page starts scanning the browser when a user enters the fake meeting. It looks for Ethereum wallet connections through EIP-6963 and older browser methods. It also checks for non-EVM wallets, including Solana tools. The results reach an operator panel without alerting the victim. This lets the attackers identify wallets and choose higher-value targets before pushing the next stage.

On Windows, the implant also lists extension IDs across Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi and Firefox variants. Operators can compare those IDs with known wallet extensions such as MetaMask. JUMPSEC called this

A Quantum Computer Could One Day Break Crypto Security - Coinbase Is Preparing Now

Coinbase Warns Crypto's Protection Could Eventually Break

Crypto exchange Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) has started preparing its custody systems and infrastructure for a future in which powerful quantum computers could defeat the cryptography protecting Bitcoin, Ethereum and other blockchain networks.

Coinbase Chief Information Security Officer Jeff Lunglhofer outlined the company's position in a July 23 company blog post:

"A large-scale quantum computer capable of breaking current cryptography will eventually be built. No one knows exactly when. But the work to prepare needs to start now, not when it's urgent."

The company said its Independent Advisory Board on Quantum Computing and Blockchain has high confidence that a fault-tolerant quantum computer will eventually be developed. Coinbase formed the board to assess long-term quantum risks facing digital assets, according to Coinbase's quantum advisory board announcement.

"The cryptography that secures virtually every major blockchain is vulnerable when it arrives. The threat is not imminent, but the timeline is genuinely uncertain," Lunglhofer added.
