These large wallets now control about 68.17% of Bitcoin’s total supply, signaling renewed confidence among major holders.

Analysts warn a confirmed market bottom may depend on retail investors beginning to sell rather than continue buying.

The platform reported that wallets holding between 10 and 10,000 Bitcoin have increased their share of the total supply over the past week, signaling renewed confidence among major investors. These wallets now control about 68.17% of Bitcoin’s circulating supply, up slightly from 68.07% seven days earlier.

Stellar Expands Payment Infrastructure Through Bitget Wallet’s Consumer Distribution

In a move designed to strengthen stablecoin usage across everyday financial transactions, Bitget Wallet is integrating the Stellar network.

The collaboration connects Bitget Wallet’s payment infrastructure to Stellar’s fast-settlement technology, enabling users to move stablecoins and other digital assets more easily between crypto environments and traditional payment systems.

The integration will support features such as crypto cards, QR payments, bank transfers, and on- and off-ramps, allowing digital assets to function more naturally in consumer payment flows.

The rollout will occur in phases and may vary by region depending on local payment integrations.

Expanding the Role of Stablecoins in Payments

Stablecoins no longer need an introduction – they are quickly becoming important operational tools in global finance. Wallet providers, in turn, must provide products that connect all the wires, so to speak.

Bitget Wallet frames this strategy as the Onchain Payments Matrix, a broader effort to connect blockchains, payment networks, liquidity sources, and settlement in a more coordinated way.

Indeed, stablecoins are starting to function as working components of global payments, but the infrastructure around them remains fragmented across banks, card systems, and blockchain networks.

By integrating Stellar, Bitget Wallet is trying to reduce that fragmentation and improve how digital value moves across borders, into merchant payments, and through consumer cash-out flows, all while preserving a self-custodial wallet experience.

A new research report suggests quantum computing poses a long-term risk to bitcoin but is unlikely to threaten the network anytime soon. Experts say advances will occur gradually, giving developers and investors time to implement post-quantum security upgrades.

New Research Says Quantum Risk to Bitcoin Is Real but Not Immediate

A new research report by Ark Invest and bitcoin-focused financial services company Unchained, examining the intersection of quantum computing and bitcoin security, concluded that while quantum technology could eventually challenge the network’s cryptography, the threat remains far from imminent.

According to the study, current quantum systems operate in what researchers call the “Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum” (NISQ) era, where machines typically run with fewer than 100 logical qubits and limited computational depth. Breaking bitcoin’s elliptic curve cryptography would require at least 2,330 logical qubits and millions to billions of quantum operations, far beyond today’s capabilities.

Instead of a sudden “Q-day” where bitcoin security collapses, researchers argue that quantum progress will likely unfold through a series of gradual technological milestones. These stages range from early scientific applications, such as materials simulation and chemistry, to the eventual ability to attack weak cryptographic systems.

Only in later stages could quantum computers begin to threaten bitcoin’s elliptic curve digital signature algorithm (ECDSA), which secures private keys and transactions.

Even then, attacks would likely be slow and costly, requiring significant computational resources. The report estimates that electricity costs alone could reach around $100,000 to break a single bitcoin key in early quantum attack scenarios.

David Schwartz Said It Eight Years Ago

In a post on Kora that went viral at the time, Ripple CTO David Schwartz laid out the logic plainly.

As highlighted recently by crypto analyst Levi, Schwartz wrote: “The price of XRP you need to make a $1 million payment will always be at least $1 million. Higher prices tend to correlate with higher liquidity, which means cheaper payments.”

The argument is not complicated. If a bank needs to move a billion dollars and XRP is trading at five cents, buying that much XRP would move the price dramatically mid-transaction – creating slippage that makes the whole thing impractical.

A higher market cap means the same transaction barely moves the needle. Banks don’t just tolerate a high XRP price. They require it.

Ripple’s recent moves make more sense through this lens. The team has been expanding RLUSD, its stablecoin, on the XRP Ledger, with a stated target of the $33 trillion stablecoin market. As Levi points out in his analysis, every single RLUSD transaction on the XRPL requires XRP as a gas fee.

The stablecoin removes slippage concerns for banks while still keeping XRP at the centre of every transaction.

The strategy, Schwartz outlined years ago, starts with smaller currency corridors – markets like Euro to INR where margins are thin and inefficiencies are high – before moving up to the major currencies that move trillions daily.

Derek Horstmeyer, a finance professor at George Mason University's Costello College of Business, says it's striking how the S&P 500 and the greenback have responded to a major military engagement.

It's "hard to believe that you could start a war" that sparks the closure of the Strait of Hormuz — shutting off 20% of the global oil supply and spiking crude prices to over $100 a barrel — and have the S&P 500 down just 2% over the past month, Horstmeyer told Business Insider by phone this week.

The benchmark index is a "lot more insulated" from oil-price shocks today than 50 years ago, he said. That's because the tech giants that dominate the market-weighted index are much less reliant on crude than General Electric, Exxon Mobil, and other market heavyweights of the past.

Consumers aren't so lucky; Horstmeyer said, "There is no way this is good" for them. Even if the war ends soon, it will take weeks for the oil supply chain to recover, he said. The upshot is gasoline prices are likely to remain around $3 to $4 a gallon for the next month at least, he added.
