Bitcoin Price Surges on Biggest Accumulation Wave Since 2013



The pioneer cryptocurrency Bitcoin recorded an uptick of 0.12% during Thursday’s U.S. market session to currently trade at $75,000. Despite an insignificant gain, the Bitcoin price shows notable lower price rejection in its daily candle indicating an intact demand from bottom levels. The buying pressure gained its initial momentum from de-escalation of the U.S. and Iran war, while also indicating further growth potential as whale accumulation pace hits a multi-year high.

$BTC Supply Squeeze Deepens as Exchanges Hit 2017 Lows

In the last 24-hours, the global crypto market cap is up 0.54% to reach $2.53 trillion value. The bullish momentum, though weak, signals sustainability after last week’s recovery attempt which pushed Bitcoin above $75,000.

The market sentiment remains neutral to moderately bullish as the U.S. and Iran are engaged in active, indirect talks to extend their current ceasefire. In addition, Pakistan also pushed to host a second peace talk between the two nations, to further ease the geopolitical uncertainty.

While the weak momentum recovery may create concern among retail inventors, the large investors have showcased strong conviction in $BTC’s potential recovery.

According to data indicated by Bitfinex, large Bitcoin investors, often referred to as whales, bought approximately 270,000 $BTC in the past 30 days, which is the most active buying spurt by this group since 2013.



Simultaneously, balances of Bitcoin held on major exchanges have dropped to their lowest point since December 2017. This squeeze in supply of coins available to platforms is occurring amidst a shrinking overall liquid supply able to meet new demand.

The confluence refers to the increasing concentration of Bitcoin among long-term investors with continually low exchange liquidity.

Within only six trading days of launch, the fund soared past $103 million in total net inflows-overtaking the WisdomTree Bitcoin Fund's $86 million cumulative haul, Farside Investors data shows.

MSBT debuted on April 8 with a market-leading fee of 0.14%, narrowly undercutting the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust ETF (BTC) by just 1 basis point. It entered a crowded sector of 11 spot Bitcoin ETFs, alongside major players like BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which leads the market with $64 billion in net inflows, and the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund, which has drawn $10.9 billion since launching in January 2024.

With the two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran nearing its end, a second round of talks is expected to take place.

According to Axios, the US and Iran will likely hold talks in Islamabad on April 19.

Axios also reported that Iran said the deal was for the US to release $200 billion in frozen Iranian funds in exchange for handing over its stockpile of enriched uranium.

Discussions on this matter are reportedly ongoing.

In addition to these reports of talks, statements were also issued by Iran. According to these statements, Iran officially reopened the Strait of Hormuz to ALL commercial vessels for the remainder of the ceasefire period.

The Iranian Foreign Minister stated, “In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage of all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is declared fully open for the remainder of the ceasefire period, via the coordinated route already announced by the Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

US President Donald Trump thanked Iran for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Following the Iranian Foreign Minister’s announcement that commercial shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz would resume, WTI and Brent oil prices fell by more than 6% during the day, dropping to $86.51 and $88.53 per barrel respectively.

Citi analysts say holding both gold and bitcoin can improve portfolio performance compared with traditional bond-and-equity mixes. In a new report cited by CNBC, analyst Alex Saunders said a 5% allocation to gold enhances portfolio efficiency, while splitting that exposure between gold and bitcoin produces stronger results.

The analysis found the mixed allocation improves returns in bond bull markets and provides resilience during bear-steepening cycles tied to fiscal concerns and rising inflation risk.

Citi noted that bitcoin often performs better than gold when bond markets weaken, highlighting recent gains amid geopolitical and equity market stress. Over the past two months, bitcoin has risen 9%, while spot gold has declined 4%. Saunders said the tactical appeal of a combined allocation lies in balancing the relative popularity of gold with bitcoin’s growth characteristics.

Bitcoin price analysis

Bitcoin’s move above $75,000 reflects more than a technical breakout; it signals a shift in how markets are valuing the asset amid rising geopolitical tension. After rebounding from a February low near $60,000, bitcoin has climbed roughly 23%, holding firm even as traditional markets face pressure.

Traders now view the $75,000–$76,000 range as a critical resistance zone, with a breakout potentially opening a path toward $80,000, while failure could send price back toward the low-$70,000s or below.

The organization unveiled its mission on X, promoting what it calls a “modern alternative” to government-backed education funding.

According to group statements, the fund will leverage the One Big Beautiful Bill Act beginning in 2027, allowing individuals to claim a 1:1 federal tax credit for donations up to $1,700 — or $3,400 for couples — toward Bitcoin-focused curricula. The organization says this structure effectively makes the contribution “net cost $0” for donors while channeling funds directly into classrooms.

In other words, a taxpayer with a standard 8,000 dollar federal bill could donate 1,700 dollars to the Bitcoin Scholars Fund, receive a full 1,700 dollar federal credit, and still remit 8,000 dollars total — effectively redirecting part of their liability from general revenues into Bitcoin education at no additional net cost.

The organization’s stated goal is to recruit 12,350 donors, described as the “Genesis 12,350,” to fully fund a 20,999,999 dollar pool dedicated to primary and secondary education in Texas.

Scholarships will support coursework in Bitcoin, Austrian economics, and “freedom tech” at partner schools that complete Base58’s “Bitcoin at Work(shop)” certification, which brings protocol-level, hands-on instruction into classrooms.
