The latest report from Gate Research argues that leveraged products such as 5x long and inverse tokens are best used in tightly defined, short‑duration trades built around “right‑side” entries, volume‑driven momentum breakouts and strict stop‑loss rules.

Gate Research’s report, “Liquidity Evolution and Trading Strategies of Crypto Leveraged ETFs,” frames leveraged crypto ETFs as a second‑stage development after spot ETFs drew institutional capital and compressed realized volatility in assets like Bitcoin. The authors note that since 2024, Bitcoin’s annualized realized volatility center has declined and peak drawdowns have stayed under 50% compared with 70%‑80% in prior cycles, as ETF arbitrage capital acts as a “liquidity backstop” during stress.
As risk appetite shifted higher, Gate Research says traders moved from spot and conventional ETFs into leveraged structures to “seek greater return convexity,” with 5x tokens such as XRP5L, SOL5L, ETH5S, BTC5L and XRP5S dominating trading volume on the Gate platform in early 2026.

Bitcoin surged on April 17 after the US President Donald Trump said the Strait of Hormuz was open again and shipping passage was being restored.
In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote that Iran had announced the strait was “fully open and ready for full passage.” He added that sea mines had been removed, or were being removed, with the help of the United States.
Earlier today, Trump posted again that Chinese President Xi Jinping was “very happy” that the Strait of Hormuz was open or rapidly opening. He also said that a meeting coming up in China could be historic.

The market reacted fast as Bitcoin jumped to a 10-week high above $78,000, reaching around $78,400 for the first time since February 4.

SEC Has Issued a New Official Green Light for Cryptocurrencies

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has formally approved a rule change proposal submitted by the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) that aims to create a new trading mechanism for “tokenized securities.”

The proposal, outlined in document number 34-105260, is considered a critical step towards integrating traditional finance with blockchain technology.

According to the proposal, the NYSE plans to introduce a new regulation called “Rule 7.50,” allowing eligible securities to be traded in both traditional and blockchain-based “tokenized” forms. This structure will be implemented within the scope of the DTC pilot program under the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC).

In the new system, tokenized securities will share the same trading code (CUSIP) and ownership structure as traditional shares. This will ensure full fungibility between the two forms. Furthermore, on the matching engine side, tokenized assets will be subject to the same priority rules as traditional shares and will not experience any disadvantage in trading order.

Market participants can choose to have transactions executed on the blockchain via a “tokenization flag” that they can use when placing orders. Technical and operational processes will be handled by authorized custodians.

NYSE’s proposal isn’t limited to the trading side alone. The exchange is also making changes to order queuing, routing, and clearing rules, aiming to seamlessly integrate tokenized securities into its existing market infrastructure.

The “Fear & Greed Index” is an indicator created by Alternative that tells us about the average sentiment present among traders in the Bitcoin and wider cryptocurrency markets. The index takes into account for the data of the following five factors to determine the investor mentality: trading volume, market cap dominance, volatility, social media sentiment, and Google Trends.

To represent the market sentiment, the metric makes use of a numerical scale running from zero to hundred. All values on this scale that lie below 47 correspond to a net sentiment of fear, while those above 53 suggest the dominance of greed among investors. Naturally, the values lying between these two cutoffs imply a neutral mentality.

Besides these three main zones, there are also two ‘extreme’ regions called the extreme fear (25 and under) and extreme greed (above 75). Historically, these two have held significance for the market as they have been where major tops and bottoms have tended to form.

The relationship between prices and sentiment has been an inverse one, however, with tops appearing during extreme greed and bottoms alongside extreme fear.

Recently, the crypto sector has been stuck in the latter of the two, as the below chart shows.
