Rising volume during a sell-off often reflects stronger conviction from market participants, and that pattern appeared across $PENDLE’s latest move. Rather than attracting follow-through buying, the increased activity accompanied sustained downside pressure.

As a result, sellers maintained control of price action even as liquidity entered the market.

Why $PENDLE buyers stayed active despite weakness
Spot market data revealed a different story beneath the decline. At the time of writing, Spot Taker CVD remained firmly positive and continued trending higher even as $PENDLE moved lower. This divergence suggested that aggressive buyers continued entering the market through market orders.

However, their activity failed to translate into immediate price appreciation. Instead, sellers appeared to absorb incoming demand and prevented buyers from regaining control. This imbalance highlighted a market where participation remained healthy but directional conviction remained split.

While buyer aggression persisted, the prevailing supply across the market limited upside progress. If this divergence continues, traders could begin watching for signs that demand eventually overcomes the remaining sell-side pressure.

The Price Problem

The launch lands in difficult conditions. ADA hit its lowest level in five years this month, down roughly 35% over the past 30 days. Meanwhile, its all-time high of $3.09 came on September 2, 2021, today's price of $0.16 sits 95% below that peak.

A Challenge Built Over a Decade

The puzzle did not begin as the massive bounty system it is today. Its earliest verified onchain origin is a Jan. 15, 2015, transaction that funded 256 outputs with rewards scaling from 0.001 $BTC to 0.256 $BTC, totaling 32.896 $BTC. A Bitcointalk thread opened Dec. 28, 2015, under the title "Bitcoin puzzle transaction ~32 $BTC prize to who solves it" marked the first major public discussion of the challenge.

The structure changed materially in 2017 when funds from addresses 161 through 256 were moved into the lower-range addresses, consolidating the challenge to 160 active puzzles. Those partial spends revealed public keys onchain for those outputs, a detail that later proved significant for how solvers could approach those specific puzzles.

CFTC fires back after Kentucky targets Polymarket, Kalshi
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has sued Kentucky in federal court, seeking to stop the state from enforcing gaming laws against federally regulated prediction market operators.

The case names Kentucky Governor Andrew Beshear, Attorney General Russell Coleman, Department of Revenue Commissioner Thomas B. Miller, and the Kentucky Horse Racing and Gaming Corporation as defendants.

The CFTC says Kentucky’s actions conflict with the Commodity Exchange Act, which gives the regulator authority over futures, options, and swaps traded on federally regulated exchanges.

“Kentucky is the latest state attempting to shut down federally-regulated event contracts,” said CFTC Chair Michael Selig.

The agency asked the court for declaratory and injunctive relief. Kentucky says sports-linked contracts need state oversight.

State action targets platforms

Kentucky sued Kalshi, Polymarket, and partners tied to Coinbase, Robinhood, and Webull on June 17. The state said the companies offered sports event contracts without a Kentucky gaming license and without following state rules. It also argued that the products fall under the state’s definition of sports wagering.

The CFTC rejected that view in its complaint. It said Kalshi and Polymarket are designated contract markets under federal oversight. It also said Coinbase, Robinhood, and Webull are registered futures commission merchants that can offer event contracts through partnerships with regulated exchanges.

Moreover, the regulator described the targeted contracts as swaps under federal commodities law.

Will the unlock increase selling pressure?

A major unlock event was approaching.

Roughly $36 million worth of new tokens were scheduled to enter circulation within the next day.

Such events often attract market attention because they increase the supply available to trade. That does not always lead to selling.

However, when a token is already under pressure, additional supply can weigh on sentiment.

This partly explains why traders became more cautious around Humanity Protocol’s recent price action. The market was trying to determine whether new tokens would be absorbed by demand or add to selling pressure.
Can the chart recover support?

The chart continued to favor bears.

After losing support at $0.199, Humanity Protocol slipped below several key Exponential Moving Averages. Those levels now act as resistance rather than support.

From a technical perspective, that shift matters.

As long as the price remains below those moving averages, buyers may struggle to regain control. Any recovery attempt would likely need to reclaim them before sentiment begins improving.

For now, momentum continued to point lower.
Are traders expecting more downside?

Interestingly, derivatives traders had not turned aggressively bearish. The token’s Long/Short Ratio stood at 0.9586.

That figure suggested positioning remained relatively balanced, although shorts still held a slight advantage.
