Chainlink (LINK), the decentralized oracle network, is collaborating with 47 banks across South Korea and Europe to accelerate international remittances, as reported by Unfolded. The initiative aims to leverage blockchain technology to reduce settlement times and operational costs associated with cross-border money transfers.

Scope of the partnership

The collaboration involves a mix of commercial and regional banks from both regions, though the specific names of participating institutions have not been publicly disclosed. The project is expected to pilot blockchain-based remittance corridors that can process transactions in minutes rather than the traditional one to three business days.

Chainlink’s role centers on providing secure, tamper-proof data feeds and interoperability solutions that connect legacy banking systems with blockchain networks. This allows banks to verify transaction details, exchange rates, and compliance data in real time without overhauling their existing infrastructure.

Why this matters for remittances

International remittances remain a $800 billion market globally, according to World Bank data, yet they are often slow and expensive. Traditional correspondent banking models involve multiple intermediaries, each adding fees and delays. By using a blockchain-based layer, banks can reduce the number of hops a transaction must take, cutting costs for consumers and improving speed.

South Korea and Europe are particularly active corridors. South Korea sends and receives significant remittance flows from its large diaspora in Europe and North America. Faster, cheaper transfers could benefit migrant workers, students, and families who rely on these payments.

Ethlabs Forms Independent Research Group to Strengthen Ethereum’s Core Network

A group of senior Ethereum contributors has launched Ethlabs, a nonprofit research and development organization built to prepare the network for a new wave of institutional and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven activity.

The initiative is funded by a coalition led by Bitmine Immersion Technologies, Sharplink, Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin, and other ecosystem backers, including Anchorage, Octant, and SNZ.

Ethlabs is designed to reinforce Ethereum’s core principles of credible neutrality, censorship resistance and security while helping the network scale for stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets, funds, decentralized finance and autonomous AI commerce.

The organization was co-founded by five former senior Ethereum Foundation researchers: Ansgar Dietrichs, Barnabé Monnot, Caspar Schwarz-Schilling, Josh Rudolf, and Julian Ma. Their past work spans finality, scaling, data availability, the Ethereum Virtual Machine ( EVM), and protocol economics.

A New Research Home for Ethereum’s Core Builders

Ethlabs arrives as the Ethereum ecosystem moves toward a more distributed development model. As the Ethereum Foundation narrows its mandate, independent groups are taking on larger roles in protocol research and infrastructure development.

Ethlabs will focus first on areas that matter to institutions moving onchain: faster settlement, stronger interoperability, mainnet capacity, native issuance, cross-chain movement, and research into $ETH’s monetary properties.

Bitcoin in Limbo
On-chain data shows that neither bulls nor bears are firmly in control. With $BTC trading within the $62,500–$72,000 consolidation zone, the market appears to be in limbo, rather than a sustained bearish phase.

Bitfinex analysts outlined two bullish tests for a potential sustained uptrend on lower timeframes, but they all failed. The tests were a sustained spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) market bid and a calming of the derivatives complex, with funding moving from neutral to negative.

In the face of the failure, there are now two opposing forces pulling at market sentiment on inflation: the potential of softening energy risks following a peace deal between the U.S. and Iran and the Fed’s focus on inflationary heat rather than the immediate relief in crude prices.

For $BTC to continue holding its floor, the Fed needs to be willing to “hold its nerve,” according to experts. It remains to be seen how the market will move until this happens.
