Bitcoin price faces midweek squeeze that will decide whether $60,000 holdsBitcoin price faces back-to-back tests this week, with May PCE coming out on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. EDT and more than $10 billion in Bitcoin options settling on Deribit at 08:00 UTC Friday in the quarterly expiry that closes the second quarter.

Bitcoin is trading near $62,500 after a rough June that briefly pushed it under $60,000 and left it ranging between $62,000 and $67,000.

A surprise in the inflation print could land while billions in contracts are already sliding toward settlement, with the hedging that follows risking sharper move than the data alone would produce.

We've seen this play out once already this year. On March 27, $14.1 billion in Bitcoin options and $2.2 billion in Ethereum contracts expired into a market hit by an oil shock, rising yields, and fading rate-cut hopes, and Bitcoin dropped toward $66,200 that morning as dealer hedging turned an ordinary drop

into a faster one.

The last PCE report gave the Fed cover to stay tight, with headline PCE rising 3.8% in April from a year earlier, nearly double the 2% target, and core holding at 3.3%, its highest since October 2023

drops toward $62,000 as the chip selloff deepens for a second dayBitcoin fell toward $62,000 on Wednesday as a second day of heavy selling in technology stocks kept pressure on risk assets worldwide.

The token traded around $62,546, down 2.1% over 24 hours and 4.9% on the week, per CoinDesk data, sliding back toward the lower end of the range it has held all month.

The selling was steep across the board. Ether dropped 3.7% to $1,661 for a 7.2% weekly loss, XRP fell 2.2% to $1.10 and is down 9.3% on the week, solana lost 3.3% to $69 and dogecoin slid 9.8% over seven days. Hyperliquid's HYPE was the worst hit, down 8.8% on the day and 18.6% on the week to about $61. Tron held up best, up 3.7% on the week.

The pressure came from the same place as Tuesday. A renewed rout in semiconductor shares, the stocks that have led this year's market with triple-digit gains, sent the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index down 7.9% on Tuesday, with all 30 members falling.

Micron, Marvell and On Semiconductor, each more than doubled in 2026, led the drop. The selloff pulled the S&P 500 down 1.4% and the Nasdaq 100 down 3.3%. An attempted rebound in Asian chip stocks failed to hold on Wednesday, with Taiwan Semiconductor down more than 3

Ethereum's much-hated staking 'tax' may already be obsolete

Ethereum's latest "funding crisis" has triggered a fierce debate over whether to tax staking rewards or to pursue funding from large ETH holders for new organizations like EthLabs. Ethereum is running out of money, according to former insiders.

The warning has sparked one of the fiercest Ethereum governance debates in months: should the network fund developers by taxing staking rewards, or just rely on wealthy Ether holders to bankroll its ecosystem?

Selling pressure intensified across Humanity Protocol [H] over the last 24 hours, with the token shedding 20% during the period. The decline came at a sensitive moment for the market.

Price had already broken below key support near $0.199, a zone that previously acted as a floor during recent pullbacks.

With that support invalidated, traders were assessing whether further downside could follow. The answer may depend on what happens over the next 24 hours.

Will the unlock increase selling pressure?
A major unlock event was approaching.

Roughly $36 million worth of new tokens were scheduled to enter circulation within the next day.

Such events often attract market attention because they increase the supply available to trade. That does not always lead to selling.

However, when a token is already under pressure, additional supply can weigh on sentiment.

This partly explains why traders became more cautious around Humanity Protocol’s recent price action. The market was trying to determine whether new tokens would be absorbed by demand or add to selling pressure.

Can the chart recover support?
The chart continued to favor bears.

After losing support at $0.199, Humanity Protocol slipped below several key Exponential Moving Averages. Those levels now act as resistance rather than support.

From a technical perspective, that shift matters.

As long as the price remains below those moving averages, buyers may struggle to regain control. Any recovery attempt would likely need to reclaim them before sentiment begins improving.
