‘Passive’ investors who dodged bitcoin are now forced to own SpaceX, which is three times more volatile
In many ways, SpaceX is a lot like bitcoin: it has no earnings, no yield, is so far extremely volatile, and has about as many haters as it does hardcore believers. 

One big difference: no one’s forcing you to own bitcoin.

In the case of SpaceX, it sure feels like the opposite for many advisors and money-managers invested in index funds who will soon be owners of Elon Musk’s astronomic ambitions when the stock is integrated this summer into some of the biggest exchange-traded-funds that are staples of most American’s portfolios.

“Vanguard and other large money managers who are going along with Nasdaq’s mandate and rule change are betraying U.S. savers,” said Ayman Saidi, partner at Strategic Investment Solutions, an Orland Park, Illinois-based RIA. “VUG in my portfolios will likely own SpaceX soon. This is why I like Dimensional Funds: they do not simply copy an index. It will be a major market distortion.”
CRSP market indexes, Nasdaq, FTSE Russell, and MSCI have all made accommodations to integrate SpaceX within their large-cap trackers. Given SpaceX’s monstrous $2.7 trillion market cap – the fifth biggest company in the world after Tuesday’s 4.5% rally – it’s likely to raise index-level volatility.

SpaceX implied volatility was almost 120 Tuesday, about three times higher than the iShares bitcoin ETF (IBIT). The stock would be the most volatile in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 as of Tuesday’s trading – as well as the only trillion-dollar-plus market-cap company that doesn’t make money.

The crypto industry is pushing back against a new tax law in the state of Illinois that enacts a 0.2% tax on businesses transacting or storing crypto for customers in the state, but it may be too late to change it in the short-term.

The law enacts a 0.2% tax on "receiving any digital asset business activity," according to the text of the bill, which defined digital asset business activity as "any single occurrence of exchanging, transferring or storing a digital asset as part of a business or on behalf of a customer."

The tax applies to firms that are based in Illinois or provide services to residents of the state with total gross receipts of at least $100,000. The tax is expected to raise around $60 million, said a person following the process.

According to data from crypto.news, Solana ($SOL) climbed from a local low of $62.44 to a high of $75.60 before pulling back to around $72.50 at press time.

$SOL’s rebound followed a relief rally across crypto markets after the U.S. administration announced a peace agreement with Iran and reopened the Strait of Hormuz, a development that helped push oil prices lower and encouraged investors to rotate back into risk assets.

At the same time, capital continued to flow into Solana’s growing real-world asset ecosystem. Tokenized stock activity accelerated after the launch of on-chain SpaceX equity products, helping Solana-native tokenized assets surpass key volume milestones and drawing fresh attention to the network as a settlement layer for traditional financial products.

Corporate treasury demand has also remained a tailwind. Recent disclosures showed several public companies adding to their $SOL holdings, while takeover discussions among Solana-focused treasury firms kept attention on the asset’s long-term balance-sheet appeal. With roughly two-thirds of Solana’s circulating supply staked, large spot purchases continue to have an outsized effect on available liquidity.

BlackRock Rolls Out Bitcoin Income ETF as Demand for Covered Calls Grows
BlackRock is expanding its suite of BTC-linked products aimed at institutional investors.
BlackRock has launched its iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF (BITA). The move aims to expand its crypto product lineup beyond direct spot BTC exposure and into yield-focused strategies.
The new product is designed to give investors exposure to Bitcoin-linked performance while also generating income through an actively managed options strategy.
The product will target an annual yield of 15-25%.

According to the official SEC filing, the trust will primarily sell call options on shares of BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), and may also use indices tied to spot BTC ETFs.
The structure resembles a covered-call strategy. In practice, it can generate option premium income. However, it also limits upside participation when IBIT or BTC itself rallies above the strike price of the written options. Of course, investors remain exposed to downside moves in both assets.

The launch comes as IBIT remains the world’s largest spot Bitcoin ETF. It currently manages over $50,9 billion in net assets, with daily volume sitting well above 50 million shares.
