Goldman Sachs Traders: Easing Middle East Tensions Shift US Investors' Focus Beyond AI

On June 16, the easing of tensions in the Middle East has given investors new reasons to pay attention to other sectors, moving beyond the AI trading narrative that has dominated the market for most of this year. Goldman Sachs traders, including Lee Coppersmith, noted in a report to clients that investors are beginning to realize there may be some cyclical stocks that are undervalued and not closely related to AI. Given the signs of fatigue in the AI boom, investors are positioning themselves for these stocks to catch up. 'As the war ends, the market will overlook the upcoming inflation data and gradually eliminate interest rate hike expectations, allowing us to refocus on betting on interest rate cuts,' said Joe Gilbert, portfolio manager at Integrity Asset Management. 'This will be beneficial for small companies, cyclical stocks, and bonds.'
