Scarcity has always been one of the strongest market drivers for risk-on moves.

That said, it’s rarely an instant catalyst. The process takes time, tests patience, and forces the market to prove conviction. In other words, scarcity doesn’t immediately impact price action. Instead, it quietly builds a support base until real demand steps in. That’s usually when markets transition into parabolic runs.

A clear example is Bitcoin’s [BTC] 2020 cycle. The Bitcoin halving cut new BTC issuance from 12.5 to 6.25 BTC per block, tightening supply. Around the same time, Strategy [MSTR] started accumulating BTC, while global central banks flooded markets with liquidity after the COVID-19 shock. Now, market participants are speculating that Ethereum [ETH] may be setting up along a similar path.

Technically, if ETH mirrors this setup, the structure supports a potential parabolic expansion.

In 2020, Bitcoin finished the cycle up roughly 305%, breaking into a new all-time high above $20k for the first time. The halving created the initial supply shock, but the real parabolic move started once large treasury bids entered the market and aggressively absorbed available supply, accelerating price discovery.

In this context, Ethereum’s consolidation around the $2k level starts to carry greater significance. The key question now is whether a similar supply dynamic is quietly forming beneath the asset. If so, could ETH replicate a Bitcoin-style 2020 parabolic expansion once markets shift back into a risk-on environment?

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has warned of the privacy and security risks posed by today's Al agents, while sketching a path forward that relies on decentralized technology.

In a detailed post published April 2, 2026, Buterin described building his own "paranoid" local-first large language model setup to counter the mainstream Al industry's lax approach to data leaks, jailbreaks, backdoors, and unauthorized data exfiltration.

The Ethereum co-founder highlighted real-world attack vectors, such as agents being compromised simply by visiting a malicious webpage or through hidden instructions in third-party plugins that quietly send user data to external servers. Buterin argues that the core problem is that most current Al frameworks prioritize capability over security, often allowing agents to rewrite prompts, open new channels, or execute code with little oversight.

XRP Breaks Positive Weekly Trend With $3.56 Million in Withdrawals


$XRP has continued to see weak performance across its ETF market with all existing funds recording little to no demand from institutional investors.

While the crypto market volatility fueling this negative performance has continued to persist, the $XRP ETFs are yet to show any sign of recovery, recording multiple days of consistent withdrawals or flat ETF flows.

$XRP ETFs note another weekly withdrawal

Although the funds have managed to sustain minimal demand from investors amid the rising uncertainty and have successfully recorded two straight weeks of positive flows, this weekly close has broken the positive trend.

According to data from SoSoValue, the $XRP ETFs have recorded a net capital withdrawal of $3.56 million over the last week, marking the first weekly outflow seen in April.

While momentum has been stronger in earlier weeks, with the $XRP ETFs recording decent weekly inflows, $636,480 and $2,660,000, respectively, in the last two weeks, the negative performance seen this week suggests that selling pressure among institutional investors has intensified over the period.

Nonetheless, the poor performance has followed a week of sustained market volatility where $XRP traded mostly in the red zone.

Although the Bitwise $XRP ETF led the market with a decent fresh capital intake during their last daily trading session, this decent inflow from the fund could not offset the overall withdrawals seen across the market.

$XRP stalls around $1.31

Over the period, $XRP hovered mostly around the $1.31 price level, sparking fear and doubts among retail and institutional investors.

While $XRP has continued to plunge deeper, showing no signs of a potential price rebound, the asset has declined by 0.88% over the last day, and it is trading at $1.30 as of writing time

Given its vast size, the $XRP Army is among the most vocal parts of the cryptocurrency community, often praising the asset and charting some mind-blowing price predictions.

Although most remain within the speculative spectrum, since they are purely based on hype, a few tend to catch the eye. Those typically come from well-known Crypto X figures, such as analysts or market commentators, and have some substance.

A recent example came from EGRAG CRYPTO, a popular analyst on social media, who argued that Ripple’s native token could skyrocket to $8 by January 1, 2027, and all the way up to $27 in August of the same year. They based their analysis on the long-term Fibonacci extensions, and the higher price targets come from Fib 2.236 and 2.414. But, is there any merit?

$8 or $27 in 2027? ChatGPT Dissects

With $XRP currently trading at $1.30, a surge to $8 would require a massive 500%+ gain. To reach $27, then the gains must be at around 2,000%. And all of that must take place in the next 15-6 months, which, well, it does sound unreasonable and unrealistic, to say the least, given the current market sentiment.

But we decided to ask ChatGPT first about its take on the matter, and it actually sounded more hopeful, saying, “It’s not impossible.” The AI solution noted that the Fib extensions have “historically worked surprisingly well in crypto, especially during parabolic phases.” In fact, it added that $XRP has “done this before,” surging by 63,000% during the 2017 cycle and by more than 1,000% in 2020-2021.

It believes the bull case is “strong” for the $8 target, but it would still require a breakout above $XRP’s ATH ($3.65), entering price discovery, and leading an altcoin season rally.

Notably, the next wave appears to be forming with Charles Schwab. For context, Charles Schwab manages nearly $12 trillion in client assets and plans to launch Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum [ETH] trading this quarter, while already offering early access through its “Schwab Crypto” waitlist.

The market reaction was immediate, with many viewing the move as a key milestone in integrating crypto into traditional brokerage platforms. In simple terms, brokerage platforms will now integrate crypto directly into the same investment ecosystem investors use for stocks, ETFs, and long-term portfolio management.

Naturally, the impact on Bitcoin and Ethereum could be substantial, especially considering Charles Schwab manages nearly $12 trillion in client assets. HASH has lost the most value over the past 24 hours, while VET has re-entered the top 100 alts after a 9% increase.

Bitcoin’s price volatility has disappeared over the past 24 hours, as the asset has remained rangebound around $67,000.

Most larger-cap alts have performed similarly, with little to no movements from ETH, XRP, BNB, SOL, DOGE, and others. The only substantial fluctuations from the largest 30 alts come from RAIN, HBAR, UNI, and ETC.

There were some reports during the previous weekend that volatility was to be expected due to the quickly escalating developments in the Middle East, but to no avail. Bitcoin remained stable at around $66,000-$67,000 before it dipped to $65,000 on Monday morning when most of the traditional financial markets started to open.

Bitcoin whipsawed between $66,000 and $68,000 on Monday and Tuesday, then surged to $69,200 on Wednesday ahead of a key Trump speech in which he was expected to de-escalate tensions. However, his comments were precisely the opposite, and BTC tumbled to $65,700 hours later.

Since then, the cryptocurrency has remained relatively stagnant, trading around $67,000. Even yesterday’s jobs report couldn’t really shake BTC, whose market capitalization stays stable at $1.340 trillion. Its dominance over the alts is also sluggish, at 56.2% on CG as of press time.
