In the beginning there was only Satoshi Nakamoto and a powerful idea. Nakamoto started working on Bitcoin as far back as 2007[1], and as far as we know worked on it entirely himself, until a few weeks after his release of the Bitcoin white paper on October 31st 2008[2], when Nakamoto took on the first Contributor to the project, Hal Finney[3].
Finney, it turns out, was critical to Bitcoin’s early success. According to recently surfaced emails[4] Nakamoto’s node was unable to receive “incoming connections” for a couple of days after the minting of the genesis block, resulting in Finney being the only node other users could connect to. Nakamoto told Finney in a private email “Your node receiving incoming connections was the main thing keeping the network going the first day or two.”

Finney was also one of the first known reviewers and contributors to Bitcoin, Nakamoto shared the software with him and a few other cypherpunk legends before it was shown to the world. Finney even contributed code to the project before its first release, as revealed by Ray Dillinger who Nakamoto also shared pre-released versions of the code with.

In an interview conducted by Nathaniel Popper published on Dillinger’s blog, he said[5]; “It was when we started talking about floating-point types in accounting code that I learned Finney was involved in the effort. Finney was reviewing the transaction scripting language, and both the code he had, and the code I had, interacted with the accounting code.”

The timeline roughly matches the activity page of the oldest Sourceforge web archive we have of the Bitcoin project page, where Nakamoto added Finney to the project on December 18, 2008.

Market Analysts Highlight Rocket Signals Emerging for XRP, Solana and Dogecoin
Technical analysts are flagging setups across three major altcoins, suggesting the current relief rally may have more room to run if critical levels hold.

On the monthly Coinbase chart, XRP shows capitulation volume, while the Supertrend indicator remains intact as support, aligning precisely with the 0.5 logarithmic Fibonacci level. A break back above all-time highs would open the path to $6 at the 1.272 log Fibonacci extension.

At press time, CoinMarketCap data shows XRP up 0.34% to $1.32 over the past 24 hours, slightly beating a market rally driven by a geopolitical-triggered short squeeze. If XRP holds above the $1.37 breakout level, it could test $1.42–$1.45. However, a drop below $1.32 would invalidate the move and signal a return to its prior range.

Solana is pinned at the lower edge of a multi-month consolidation channel. Resistance sits at $96.04, with immediate support at $76.66; the price is currently near $81.11. According to analyst Ali Martinez, the next 48 hours could be decisive for April’s direction. Holding the channel floor would form a double-bottom pattern and spark an initial bounce toward $85, followed by a test of the 50-day simple moving average near $90.

Solana climbed 6.58%, driven by a geopolitical ceasefire that sparked a risk-on move across markets. The surge was amplified by Solana’s robust on-chain activity and a technical breakout. If SOL holds above the $82.70 support, a test of the $88 resistance is likely, but a break below $80 would risk a pullback toward $78.

Dogecoin continues to tighten within a triangular consolidation pattern, suggesting a potential 29% move once resolved.

Dogecoin advanced 1.52% to $0.090, tracking a broad crypto market rally, primarily driven by a macro-relief rally in Bitcoin.

The company has no greater ambition than to accumulate Bitcoin.
Usually, the playbook for when an asset drops 46% from its peak is to stop buying it. Strategy (MSTR0.12%) -- formerly known as MicroStrategy -- missed that memo, and the company now holds 766,970 Bitcoin (BTC2.85%) after purchasing another 4,871 BTC in the first week of April alone, despite the cryptocurrency's price of $68,536 being far below the $126,000 all-time high it reached last October.

What makes this behavior especially notable is that practically every other company that tried to copy Strategy's approach with buying Bitcoin has either slowed to a crawl or started selling. So is Strategy's stubbornness a result of its visionary understanding of the asset, or is it just making a reckless miscalculation with how it expects Bitcoin to perform?

The digital asset treasury (DAT) trend, where publicly listed companies issue equity or debt to accumulate Bitcoin on their balance sheets, was one of 2025's biggest narratives.

But the DAT landscape is close to being entirely barren now. Non-Strategy treasury companies purchased a combined 1,000 BTC over the 30 days ending on March 28, a 99% decline in purchasing activity compared to the prior peak period of 69,000 BTC for the month of August 2025. The number of companies actively buying also fell from 54 last August to 13 during this March.
