BitGo prices IPO at $18, pitching custody growth over crypto trading swings

BitGo priced its initial public offering at $18 per share late Tuesday, setting up the first crypto-focused IPO of 2026 and giving public market investors their first pure play exposure to the digital asset custody business.

The offering values the company at roughly $2 Billion on a fully diluted basis, a relatively modest entry point compared with other listed crypto-related firms whose valuations are often tied to volatile trading volumes. BitGo is scheduled to begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday under the ticker BTGO.

The pricing comes after a difficult stretch for publicly listed crypto companies due to crypto price volatility. Several crypto-related firms that went public in 2025 have sharply underperformed over the past six months.

Shares of Bullish, the owner of CoinDesk, are down more than 40% over that period, while Owlting, a stablecoin infrastructure and payments company, has fallen nearly 90%. Gemini Space Station, the crypto custody and trading firm affiliated with the Winklevoss twins, is down close to 70%.

Over the same period, the CoinDesk 20 index has slid about 33%, highlighting how broadly public market investors have de-rated the sector amid falling token prices and tighter risk appetite.

Matthew Sigel, head of digital assets research at VanEck, said BitGo stands out as a custody-focused company with sticky, service-driven revenues that continued to grow even during 2025’s weak crypto markets.

Bitcoin’s price fell below $77,000 due to intense selling pressure, reaching its lowest levels since April 2025.


With the decline, $BTC also fell below $76,037, the average purchase price of MicroStrategy (Strategy), which has long been followed as a benchmark in the market. This level was last broken to the downside in October 2023.


The market pullback occurred amid low liquidity and limited buying appetite. The sell-off, which accelerated in recent weeks, led to a more than 30% drop in the value of the world’s largest cryptocurrency. Analysts point out that macroeconomic uncertainties and the unwinding of highly leveraged positions deepened the decline.

On the other hand, MicroStrategy’s (now Strategy) Bitcoin reserves are worth a total of $55.52 billion. The company holds 712,647 $BTC in its portfolio, with an average cost of $76,038. Following the recent decline, the company still appears to have approximately 2.46%, or $1.33 billion, in unrealized profit. However, this picture could change rapidly if the price remains persistently below the cost.


In the futures market, sharp liquidations were observed. A total of $2.54 billion in positions were liquidated in the last 24 hours. Of this, $2.40 billion came from long positions, while short position liquidations remained at $134 million.

Despite the muted price action, he believes that BTC could soon rally to $92,000. The analyst also noted that the broader market is in a state of fear, with many traders anticipating further declines in Bitcoin.

However, the analyst cautions that this expected drop may be a trap. He points out that an ascending channel is forming on Bitcoin’s chart, prompting him to adopt a more bullish outlook despite the prevailing bearish sentiment and sideways price movement.
