Bitcoin faces 2026's densest macro test as CPI, Warsh, and Trump-Xi collide

This week (May 11-15) has a credible claim to being the most consequential macro window of 2026 so far, as it compresses every channel currently driving risk assets into a single sequence.

Inflation, producer costs, consumer demand, Fed liquidity, central bank leadership, trade risk, oil risk, and the dollar are all scheduled to move within five trading days.

Bitcoin enters that window as a liquidity-sensitive institutional asset, making the calendar a direct test of whether the recovery above $80,000 has macro sponsorship or only positioning support.

The strongest rival week came earlier in the year, when the Iran conflict and the Strait of Hormuz shock pushed energy markets into the center of the inflation debate.

#BTC Shakes at $80K—Up or Down? Bitcoin Signals Key On-Chain Recovery as Profitability Hits Strongest Level Since October 2025

Bitcoin has continued to flash signs of a key recovery in its onchain profitability metric as market sentiment retains positivity amid the recent price rally.

On Monday, May 11, crypto analytics platform CryptoQuant shared data on Bitcoin's Adjusted Spent Output Profit Ratio (aSOPR), revealing that the metric has now remained above the crucial 1.0 level for nine consecutive days.

This shows that the Bitcoin tokens that have been recently moved on-chain are once again being sold at sustained profits rather than losses.

Bitcoin holders in realized gains

While the metric is used to measure whether Bitcoin holders are realizing gains or losses when spending the token, the chart provided by the source shows that the profitability metric is currently above the 1.0 level.

It is important to note that when the aSOPR metric is above 1, it means that market participants are selling at a profit on average, while readings below 1 suggest coins are being moved at a loss.

While this is the current case for Bitcoin, it is more interesting as the metric has remained above 1.0 for nine consecutive days, signaling sustained strength.

Bitcoin hits strongest level since October 2024

While Bitcoin has made the move consistently for over a week, the sustained nine-day streak above 1 marks the longest sustained profitable-spending sequence seen since October 2024.

With the renewed strength signaled in the Bitcoin network activity, the price of the asset has remained resilient despite the increased profit-taking activity from holders.

Thus, this shows that retail and institutional demand is significantly outweighing the pressure from sellers.

New Draft Submitted in the US Cryptocurrency Law Clarity Act, Favorable to the Bullish Monetary Policy Committee! What Provisions Are Included? Is the Debate...The Clarity Act, one of the most important legislative bills regarding cryptocurrency regulation in the US, is nearing its conclusion.

At this point, Clarity, also known as the Transparency Act, is scheduled to be discussed and voted on by the Senate Banking Committee on May 14.

There has been a new development regarding the CLARITY law, which the cryptocurrency sector has been eagerly awaiting.

Crypto in America host Eleanor Terrett X announced on her social media account that the US Senate Banking Committee has released a new 309-page draft of the CLARITY Act, which has been in preparation since January.

Committee members must submit their proposed amendments by the end of business on May 13th, before the meeting scheduled for May 14th.

The draft largely reflects a version previously shared with the industry, but retains a controversial provision regarding stablecoin yield and interest structure. It also includes legal protections for decentralized finance (DeFi) developers, reflecting a significant industry demand.

However, the latest draft bill does not include a provision restricting conflicts of interest related to cryptocurrency for public officials. Democrats say they will struggle to support the bill without such a provision, while the White House opposes rules that target specific individuals.

The Banking Committee had initially scheduled a meeting in January, but canceled it at the last minute after major cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase withdrew its support due to concerns, including how stablecoin rewards were handled.
