Judge Rules Caitlyn Jenner’s JENNER Memecoin Is Not a Security in Class Action Blow


TL:DR:

Judge Stanley Blumenfeld Jr. determined that the token does not meet the criteria of an investment contract, invalidating claims of unregistered securities.

The lead plaintiff, Lee Greenfield, reported losses exceeding $40,000 after investing in the Solana and Ethereum versions of the asset.

The ruling concludes that there was no “common enterprise” according to the Howey Test, exempting Jenner from federal securities fraud allegations.

On Friday, a district judge in California issued a landmark ruling by decreeing that Caitlyn Jenner’s JENNER cryptocurrency does not constitute a financial security. The decision follows a class-action lawsuit accusing the celebrity of promoting unregulated assets.

The court analyzed the case under the Howey Test, a legal tool that defines whether an asset is an investment contract. The judge concluded that there was no “common enterprise” or technical capital pooling mechanisms to justify the classification.

Despite the plaintiff’s argument that Jenner’s fame influenced the expectation of profits, the ruling maintains that investors did not share profits or losses collectively. This technical nuance is crucial for differentiating memecoins from traditional stocks.

The defense for Jenner and her late manager, Sophia Hutchins, always maintained that the Ethereum-based token lacked the characteristics of a security. The court finally validated this stance, pointing out deficiencies in the prosecution’s arguments.

‘I was wrong’ about Bitcoin’s 4-year cycle, expert James Lavish admits
Most analysts had ruled out the ‘4-Year Cycle’ for Bitcoin [$BTC], saying the narrative was dead. Among them is James Lavish, a partner at the Bitcoin Opportunity Fund.

James Lavish on Bitcoin’s ‘4-Year Cycle’

James Lavish claimed last year that a liquidity cycle drove the price, rendering Bitcoin halving cycles irrelevant. He admitted he was mistaken when $BTC went on to hit a new high of $126K. Lavish said,

I thought the four-year cycle was dead. I declared it dead last year. I was wrong

Bitcoin started to turn in the 4-year cycle when prices got up over $100K, solidifying the narrative last year. Several Bitcoin OGs sitting on tens of thousands of $BTC coins started selling relentlessly, monetizing all the wealth they accumulated over the years.

From those actions, Lavish said Bitcoin was the only rational exit as the US debt spiraled to new heights, tipping $BTC to make a new high in 2026.

Why liquidity always wins

When money supply increases, the prices of everything go up, including gold, silver, Bitcoin, stocks, bonds, and real estate.

Conversely, Lavish noted that fears about wars, quantum computing, and AI may take the markets down in the short term.

Lavish said this period resembled March and April 2020, into 2021 and 2022, when the market rebounded after quantitative easing. Hence, liquidity always wins.

That could repeat as the Fed pumps billions into the money supply through the buying of long-term treasury bills from banks.

On that note, Lavish noted that the Fed had no other choice but to print more dollars to manage debt that had doubled in 10 years to around $39 trillion. The US needs to service $12 trillion in debts this year.

Hence, they needed to ensure more US dollars hit the system. The authorities intentionally kept the dollar weak to facilitate financing.

$XRP is starting to regain strength after holding firm at a critical demand zone near $1.4. The reaction from that level was not weak or hesitant.

Price bounced with intent, and since then, momentum has been building in a way that suggests buyers are stepping back in with confidence.

Demand zone shifts short-term bias

The $1.4 zone has now proven to be more than just temporary support. It acted as a base, and the rebound from it has shifted the short-term structure back in favor of buyers.

However, the path to test higher points of interest is not completely open. The market is now approaching a layered resistance area that could slow things down.

The supply zone between $1.5 and $1.6 stands as the immediate barrier. It is a zone where sellers previously stepped in, and it is likely to attract attention again.

$1.67 liquidity level remains the key target

Beyond the current supply zone, the larger objective sits around $1.67. This level represents both a prior high and a clear liquidity target.

Markets tend to gravitate toward such levels, especially when momentum is already building. A liquidity cluster worth 4.66 million at the 1.66 resistance level underlines the price level as a key target for Ripple buyers.

Still, reaching that level will depend on how price behaves within the $1.5–$1.6 range. A clean push through could open the path toward $1.67. A rejection, on the other hand, may lead to a pause or brief consolidation.

According to on-chain analyst Ali, the SuperTrend indicator on $XRP’s daily chart flipped to a buy signal on April 18, ending a stretch of sustained selling pressure that began in mid-January.

A rough start to the year

$XRP fell about 27% in the first quarter of 2026, dropping from roughly $2.4 in January to a low near $1.16, marking its worst quarterly performance in eight years.

The asset was trading at $1.44 at press time, down about 3% in the last 24 hours, per CoinGecko. It still sits over 60% below its record high of $3.6 reached last July.

$XRP continues to struggle around the $1.55 mark, which has repeatedly capped gains in recent weeks. Ali noted that a sustained break above it would expose upside toward $1.9, about 30% above current levels.
