Bitcoin ($BTC), which surged on Friday following Iran’s reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, climbed above $78,000.

However, this rise was short-lived. Bitcoin fell again as the US did not lift the blockade despite the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and in response, Iran attacked a US merchant ship.

Bitcoin, which had fallen as low as $73,000, rose again to over $75,000, while Coinshares released its cryptocurrency report stating that there was a $1.4 billion inflow last week.

“Cryptocurrency investment products saw an inflow of $1.4 billion. This marks the third consecutive positive week and the strongest figure since January. With the improvement in risk appetite, Bitcoin surpassed $76,000.”

Bitcoin ($BTC) Continues to Remain Strong!

Looking at crypto funds individually, inflows are concentrated in Bitcoin. $BTC experienced inflows of $1.11 million, while the largest altcoin, Ethereum (ETH), saw inflows of $328 million.

Looking at other altcoins, $XRP experienced an outflow of $56.2 million after strong weeks. Besides $XRP, Solana (SOL) also saw an outflow of $2.3 million, while Sui (SUI) experienced an inflow of $2.2 million and Chainlink (LINK) saw an inflow of $5.3 million.

“Bitcoin saw $1.11 billion in inflows, bringing total inflows since the beginning of the year to $3.1 billion. Breaking above the $76,000 level represents a significant technical development after two months of sideways movement.”

There was a modest inflow of $1.4 million into Bitcoin short positions. This indicates that demand for hedging, albeit limited, continues.

Ethereum experienced its strongest week since January, seeing inflows of $328 million and bringing its total inflows since the beginning of the year to $197 million.

On the other hand, $XRP Solana recorded outflows of $56 million and $2.3 million respectively.

Motley Fool Flags XRP As One To Watch, Here’s Why Analysts Agree
$XRP hasn’t had the smoothest run recently. The token is down around 22% year-to-date, hovering near the $1.40–$1.43 range after a prolonged downtrend. While the broader market has shown signs of recovery, $XRP is still trying to break out of its consolidation phase. However, despite the downtrend, the Motley Fool, an American advisory firm, has highlighted $XRP as a token worth watching over the next few years, even as its price remains under pressure in 2026.

That said, analysts say this slow movement could actually be a setup phase rather than weakness.

Reason 1: Regulatory Clarity Is Finally Here

One of the biggest overhangs on $XRP is now gone. The long-running battle between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Ripple was settled in 2025, with appeals dismissed later that year.

This has substantially improved the regulatory outlook in the U.S.

According to the firm, this clarity could unlock institutional participation, especially if upcoming frameworks like the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act come into play. With fewer legal risks, institutions may feel more comfortable using $XRP for cross-border payments, which could boost adoption heading into 2027.

Reason 2: Ripple Is Expanding Beyond Payments

The second big shift is Ripple’s strategy. Instead of focusing only on fast transactions, the company is now building a broader financial ecosystem.

This includes stablecoins, tokenized assets like U.S. Treasuries, and lending infrastructure, making $XRP more relevant for real-world financial use. That kind of utility is what institutional players typically look for.

On April 16th, Netflix released its Q1 2026 financial report, showing revenue of $12.25 billion, a 16% year-over-year increase, and net profit rising 83% year-over-year, with earnings per share of $1.23, nearly 60% higher than Wall Street's expectation of $0.76.

However, the report also announced another event: co-founder and current chairman Reed Hastings will not seek re-election after his term expires in June.

Hastings founded Netflix in 1997, building it from a DVD mail-order business into a streaming giant with over 325 million paid subscribers worldwide, a feat he accomplished in nearly 30 years. In 2023, he handed over the CEO position to his successor, stepping down as chairman. Now, he's even stepping down as chairman.

In its filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Netflix specifically stated, "This decision is not at odds with the company."

But the more it emphasizes the lack of disagreement, the more people wonder what it's really up to.

A little-known fact is that Hastings joined Anthropic's board of directors last May. He's been in business for nearly 30 years, primarily focused on getting people to pay for content, and while Anthropic's Claude doesn't directly generate videos, he's changing the way content is produced.
