MiCA-licensed Banking Circle joins bank stablecoin settlement race in Europe


Luxembourg-based Banking Circle has launched stablecoin settlement services after receiving a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from Luxembourg's financial regulator on April 15, expanding into regulated fiat-to-stablecoin and stablecoin-to-fiat settlement for institutional clients.

The rollout includes support for Circle's $USDC, Paxos' USDG and Banking Circle's own euro stablecoin $EURI, expanding the bank's digital asset settlement capabilities beyond its initial $EURI launch in August 2024.

In a Monday announcement, the bank said it serves more than 750 payment companies, financial institutions and marketplaces that move and convert over 1.5 trillion euros (roughly $1.7 trillion) annually across its infrastructure. Chief digital asset officer Kirit Bhatia said in the release that stablecoins are "a natural extension" of the bank's infrastructure and central to reducing costs and improving efficiencies.

The move comes as Europe’s market for regulated stablecoin issuance and settlement continues to grow, with banks, fintechs and crypto-native companies competing to build compliant digital asset payment infrastructure under the European Union's Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA) framework.

Cointelegraph reached out to Banking Circle for comment but had not received a response by publication.

Diminishing Cycle Analysis Points To Bitcoin Bottom At $38,800
In an X post, Killa stated that the diminishing cycle analysis, which is part of the tool in the model he used to predict the Bitcoin top, points to $38,800 as the predicted bottom. He noted that this was the same model that led to his top prediction of $121,362, with BTC eventually topping at around $126,100.

Now, the analyst’s base model outputs $38,800 as the predicted bottom. He added that to account for the same 5% variance that offset his Bitcoin top prediction, he has included two multiples of $40,740 and $42,680. Killa noted that even at the highest end of the range, $42,680, the Bitcoin bottom is still below $60,000.

As such, Killa declared that $60,000 as the Bitcoin bottom in this bear market is very optimistic, considering the diminishing cycle analysis. He added that he will stick with his model and, regardless of everything, will be buying as much spot BTC as possible around July and August. The analyst also mentioned that anything within the $40,000 and $60,000 range is a bargain long-term and that the predictions are purely based on math and patterns.

This analysis suggested that BTC’s recent rally to almost $80,000 may be a bull trap, with BTC likely to still drop lower in the long term. The leading crypto and the broader crypto market are currently rallying on the back of optimism that the U.S.-Iran war could end soon.

Compound Foundation Proposes 3,000 ETH to Aave for rsETH Recovery

Compound Foundation has proposed a governance plan offering 3000 $ETH to assist Aave in the ongoing rsETH recovery effort under the DeFi United initiative. The proposal includes a potential contribution of up to 3,000 $ETH to help restore stability after the recent disruption linked to rsETH. It states in their proposal that while Compound’s direct exposure to the incident is expected to remain limited, the protocol has chosen to participate in the recovery process.

Post the rsETH incident, the Compound Foundation and its service providers began working with other participants in the ecosystem. Their efforts have focused on monitoring developments, assessing risks, and identifying possible solutions. These discussions have involved several counterparties for a coordinated effort.

Initial assessments show that Compound’s exposure remains manageable under various recovery options. Risk and security partners, such as Gauntlet, have backed this assessment. The Foundation said the situation was still evolving, and the picture at present may shift in the future.

Despite little exposure, the proposal indicates the impact of well-coordinated action in times of market stress. By assisting in the recovery effort, Compound is trying to help sustain stability across the system and minimize broader disruption potential of the incident. This application applies to the Compound DAO to have $ETH contribution to be authorized between 1,900 and 3,000 $ETH.

At today’s prices they would be between $4.3 million and $6.9 million.The final amount will be decided later, based on market conditions and the structure of the recovery plan.

It covered 1.72 million accounts, 210,322 markets, and about $13.76 billion in trading volume. The researchers found that only 3.14% of accounts qualified as “skilled winners.” These traders had order flows that predicted short-term price moves and final market outcomes. Together, they made up less than 3.5% of all accounts on the prediction market platform. Most losing accounts fund the gains The study said raw profits did not always prove skill. Researchers tested trader records by randomly changing buy and sell directions 10,000 times across past trades. The test found that only 12% of top earners overlapped with the skilled group. About 60% of “lucky winners” later moved into losses when tested on another sample of events. The paper also said 67% of accounts marked as unlucky or unskilled losers absorbed the platform’s total losses. Bitmine's ether buys are catching up to Strategy's bitcoin accumulation pace

A second corporate accumulator of cryptocurrency is starting to look a lot like the first.

Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR), the treasury firm chaired by Fundstrat’s Tom Lee, bought 101,901 ether ($ETH) worth roughly $234 million last week. That's close to the regular weekly purchases from Strategy (MSTR), the Michael Saylor-led bitcoin digital treasury company, as well-followed crypto trader Luke Martin flagged on X.

Strategy's normal weekly buys are around $200 million to $300 million, once large purchases fueled by at-the-market sales of its perpetual preferred stock STRC are stripped out. The STRC spikes — the massive bursts that show up in mid-January, late February, late March and, most recently, April 21 at $2.54 billion — are the outliers, not the baseline.

Bitmine's purchase was its largest weekly accumulation of 2026, capping a four-month streak of escalating buys that started at roughly $76 million per week in early January. It now holds more than 5 million tokens, or about 4.21% of the second-largest cryptocurrency's circulating supply.
