Bitcoin ($BTC) is currently on a roll, surging past the $80,000 mark and touching base above $81,000. While this rally could be a reason for positive sentiment, market experts believe otherwise.

In a weekly report from the crypto exchange Bitfinex, analysts warned that bitcoin’s rally to $80,000 is misleading because the market is not positioned for upside movement. According to the analysts, $BTC is currently stuck between bulls and bears, conviction and caution. Considering market conditions, the leading digital asset is likely to lean toward the negative rather than the positive.

To substantiate their claims, the Bitfinex analysts highlighted an improving but uneven demand wave. Based on historical data, $BTC rallies have been sustained by strong demand, but that is not the case this time.

Underlying demand is improving with steady inflows from spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and continued accumulation from institutions like Strategy. However, the demand is not strong enough to absorb the overhead supply and confirm a sustained breakout. In fact, $BTC is in a fragile yet constructive range, with short-term holders taking profits as they exit positions near breakeven.

“This behavior is a textbook pattern in bear markets: whenever the price approaches the breakeven level of the most price-sensitive cohort, the incentive to exit positions overwhelms incoming demand, exhausting upside momentum,” analysts stated.

Bitcoin requires heavy spot-led demand to sustain a rally. However, with a divided macro environment, no clear liquidity tailwind, and ongoing geopolitical risk in the Middle East, that may seem unlikely in the short term.

SoFi is launching its SoFiUSD stablecoin on Solana, expanding the bank’s crypto payments strategy as it pushes stablecoin infrastructure into faster and lower cost settlement networks.

Ben Reynolds, SoFi’s head of business banking, announced the move during a fireside chat at Solana Accelerate Miami 2026, where SoFi was listed on the agenda alongside payments, stablecoin, and institutional finance discussions.

“Solana is the right chain to use for payments because of the cost, the settlement speed and ultimately the throughput,” Reynolds said.

SoFi launched SoFiUSD in December 2025 as a fully reserved US dollar stablecoin issued by SoFi Bank, N.A. The company said at the time that SoFiUSD made it the first national bank to issue a stablecoin on a public permissionless blockchain.

The stablecoin is designed for banks, fintechs, and enterprise platforms, with SoFi positioning it for 24/7 settlement, card networks, retailers, remittances, and Galileo partners.

SoFi has been rebuilding its crypto business after returning to digital assets in 2025. In November, the company launched consumer crypto trading, saying it became the first nationally chartered, FDIC insured bank to let customers buy, sell, and hold crypto in the same app used for banking, borrowing, and investing.

The Solana expansion also follows SoFi’s March partnership with Mastercard to enable SoFiUSD settlement across Mastercard’s network. Mastercard said SoFiUSD is issued by an OCC regulated insured depository institution and fully reserved 1:1 by cash.

Michael Saylor, the CEO and Executive Chairman of Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), stepped into the Bitcoin [$BTC] space six years ago.

From when Bitcoin was trading near $11,500 in 2020 to now, when it is hovering around $81,000, Saylor’s confidence in $BTC has only increased.

Starting from the 11th of August 2020, when Strategy purchased 21,454 $BTC worth $250 million, the firm has now accumulated a total of 818,334 $BTC worth $63.54 billion.

With a total of 107 $BTC purchases, Strategy has even outpaced BlackRock’s Bitcoin holdings of 812,276.2 $BTC.

Needless to say, many players in the Bitcoin market now use Strategy’s Bitcoin strategy as a point of reference.

In fact, Boyaa Interactive is often referred to as “Hong Kong’s MicroStrategy,” while Japan’s Metaplanet is “Asia’s MicroStrategy” because of how much they mimic the firm’s buying tactics.

Outside the Bitcoin market, Michael Saylor’s corporate treasury strategy attracted interest in the Ethereum [$ETH] space as well.

In the Ethereum treasury market, Tom Lee’s BitMine Immersion Technologies has become a prominent player, much like Strategy is in Bitcoin. Notably, BitMine started its crypto corporate journey by adding 100 $BTC to its treasury in June 2025.

Indeed, Tom Lee’s company did not fully switch to Ethereum until August 2025. Yet, despite this, BitMine quickly emerged as one of the most talked-about firms in the corporate Ethereum treasury market.

As a result, localized sell pressure emerged despite the underlying accumulation narrative. In addition, such inflow spikes often aligned with profit-taking or tactical repositioning rather than sustained distribution.
