According to the chart from Glassnode, a popular research and on-chain data analytics platform, the metric has fallen from its peak in late 2024. Currently, the tide of new user onboarding and involvement that formerly drove network growth has slowed in recent months.Glassnode announced that new wallet addresses on the XRP network have collapsed from 18,000 XRP in a single day in December to about 2,700 XRP per day as of yesterday. This drop from the 2024 high to today's levels represents a more than 85% decrease after over a year.In the ever-evolving crypto market, new addresses are often linked to retail investors. Bitwise has assembled a ranking of traditional banks with the widest-ranging cryptocurrency exposure, and the names at the top read less like a fintech disruptor list and more like the guest roster at a Davos dinner party. BNY Mellon and JPMorgan Chase, two institutions that collectively hold the gravitational center of global finance, lead the pack across categories including trading, payments, ETFs, and tokenization.

The heavyweights and their crypto footprints

BNY Mellon, the world’s largest custodian bank with roughly $59 trillion in assets under custody and administration, has arguably made the most aggressive moves. The bank announced plans to launch Bitcoin custody services in Abu Dhabi, announced on May 7, 2026. Back in February 2024, the bank said it would hold, transfer, and issue digital currencies based on client demand.

The crown jewel in BNY Mellon’s crypto story might be its role servicing the iShares Bitcoin ETP, ticker IB1T. That product hit approximately $100 billion in assets under management during Q4 2025, making it the fastest-growing ETP in history.

JPMorgan Chase, meanwhile, has taken a slightly different but equally ambitious path. The bank has built out blockchain infrastructure through its Onyx division, explored tokenization of traditional assets, and maintained one of the most active institutional trading desks for crypto-adjacent products on Wall Street.

Bitcoin is facing resistance after weeks of upside that carried it significantly above the lows that defined the worst of the correction. The recovery had been building momentum — and today that momentum met a specific kind of obstacle that XWIN Research Japan has analyzed in detail, with findings that change how the decline should be read.

Bitcoin briefly fell below $80,000 today. Ethereum dropped under $2,300. More than $90 billion was erased from the combined crypto market cap from recent highs, with approximately $331 million in liquidations over the past 24 hours — nearly $100 million of that occurring within a single two-hour window. The speed and scale of the move created the kind of alarm that typically accompanies a macro shock.

But the macro environment did not produce this decline. The S&P 500 and NASDAQ remained near record highs throughout the same period. Traditional equities did not sell off. Risk appetite in broader markets did not deteriorate. The forces that drove Bitcoin below $80,000 were not external.

According to XWIN Research Japan, the decline was driven primarily by internal crypto market structure — specifically the combination of leverage positioning that had accumulated during the recovery and profit realization from holders who had returned to profitability after weeks of recovery. The market did not break because of what was happening outside it. It broke because of what had been building inside it.

Cardano ETF 2026 Launch Timeline

August 9, 2026 — $ADA becomes eligible for the streamlined ETF approval process after completing six months of CME futures trading. CME $ADA Futures officially launched on February 9, 2026.

SEC’s 75-Day Review Window: Under the SEC’s Generic Listing Standards (Rule 19b-4), approved in September 2025, the review process for standard commodity-based ETFs is limited to a maximum of 75 days.

Possible ETF Launch Deadline — October 23, 2026: If Grayscale or NYSE Arca activates the filing on August 9, the SEC would have until October 23, 2026, to issue a final decision on the Cardano ETF.

The possibility of a Cardano ETF has quickly become one of the strongest bullish narratives surrounding $ADA, especially as institutional demand for regulated crypto products continues to expand.

Grayscale Increases $ADA Exposure

Adding more fuel to the bullish outlook, Grayscale Investments has once again increased its Cardano holdings inside its Smart Contract Fund.

Crypto analytics platform Atrium Lab highlighted the latest portfolio adjustment, while Cardano community member Dave tracked the exact changes. According to the update, Grayscale raised $ADA allocation from 17.96% to 18.33%.

The Financial Supervision and Resolution Authority (FSA) issued a formal investor warning against BB Trade Estonia OÜ, the Estonian-licensed entity that operates the Zondacrypto digital asset exchange. The violation: listing a crypto token called “TeamPL” without publishing the required white paper on its website, a direct breach of the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework.

What MiCA requires and where Zondacrypto fell short

MiCA mandates that any token listed on a trading platform must have a publicly accessible white paper before it can be offered to the public or admitted to trading. The FSA cited a violation of MiCA Article 9(1). Zondacrypto listed TeamPL without one.

Estonia, as an EU member state, is obligated to enforce MiCA across all crypto-asset service providers operating under its licensing regime. No financial penalties have been announced yet.

BB Trade Estonia OÜ has not publicly commented on the warning.

The bigger problem: frozen Bitcoin and withdrawal complaints

Polish law enforcement officials have been investigating the exchange over a wave of customer complaints about withdrawal delays. Users have reported being unable to access their funds.

At the center of the investigation: a cold wallet reportedly containing 4,500 BTC that is currently inaccessible.
