Strategic Reversal and Profit Realization
The whale, famously known for taking trading positions that directly oppose the aggressive Bitcoin acquisition strategy of Michael Saylor’s MicroStrategy, recently closed short positions on six major assets. This tactical retreat from a bearish stance proved highly lucrative; the closeouts totaled over $240 million in position size. Brent and WTI crude oil prices continued to fall following President Trump's announcement that Venezuela might donate up to 50 million barrels of oil to the US, a development that disrupted market expectations for oil supply.


In early Asian trading on Wednesday, Bitcoin was near $92,000, while Asian stocks retreated after a record rally at the start of the year, with traders again focusing on data risks and geopolitical tensions.


Japanese stocks set the tone for the pause. The Nikkei fell in early trading, dragging down the MSCI Asia Pacific index after four consecutive days of gains, while the yen remained stable against the dollar.


Tensions between Asia's two largest economies further prompted investors to reduce risk.


China imposed new restrictions on exports to Japan of goods with potential military uses, with the Ministry of Commerce announcing an immediate ban on exports of all dual-use goods to Japan. The list of goods subject to export controls includes more than 800 items.


Despite a constant stream of macroeconomic news, cryptocurrency market price fluctuations remained subdued.
