If there’s one positive takeaway from recent market FUD, it’s that it continues to strengthen crypto’s role as a macro hedge.
During the Q2 2025 cycle, “liberation FUD” triggered a clear risk-off sentiment across the crypto market, as investors repositioned amid tighter global monetary expectations driven by U.S. tariff policies. As a result, capital rotated out of risk assets.
One clear signal of this shift was the XAU/BTC ratio, which closed the cycle up around 76%. This showed a strong rotation into gold compared to Bitcoin, as investors looked for more stable hedges during uncertainty.
This time, however, the reaction has been slightly different. Even with renewed geopolitical tension in the Middle East adding pressure to global markets, Bitcoin inflows have remained relatively resilient, suggesting stronger underlying demand than in previous cycles.
A key factor behind this shift may be Japan’s updated crypto regulatory framework. Japan has officially revised its Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, classifying crypto assets as financial instruments under a more structured legal umbrella. According to Nikkei, this move strengthens oversight while also providing clearer recognition of crypto within the traditional financial system.
In simple terms, this change helps move crypto away from the “pure speculation” narrative and positions it closer to a regulated asset class, similar in perception to traditional financial instruments.
What makes this even more important is timing. As Japan faces renewed economic pressure, this regulatory clarity could be a strategic step toward attracting institutional participation and improving market stability. If other jurisdictions follow a similar path, it could gradually reduce uncertainty and strengthen long-term capital inflows into Bitcoin and the broader crypto market.

The short-term rising channel that has been forming since the February lows remains the dominant structure on the 4-hour chart, with the asset currently at $71k. The $74-$76k area has recently rejected lower, and the market is at risk of a revisit to the lower boundary of the pattern, currently around $67k.

The RSI on this timeframe, however, has dropped significantly lower and is now below 50. While still not deeply into bearish territory, this suggests a potential short-term shift in momentum to bearish.

A confirmed close above $75k would invalidate the bearish scenario and lead to the price making a run toward the $80k level. On the other hand, a deeper drop and breakdown below the lower trendline would be more concerning, and could shift focus back to the $60k daily support zone.
