Bitcoin Price Eyes Fresh Gains

Bitcoin price remained supported above the $75,000 zone. $BTC formed a base and settled above $76,200 to start a recovery wave. There was a move above the $76,500 and $76,600 levels.

The bulls were able to push the price above the 50% Fib retracement level of the downward move from the $78,100 swing high to the $74,209 low. However, the bears are active near $77,000. There is also a bearish trend line forming with resistance at $77,050 on the hourly chart of the $BTC/USD pair.

Bitcoin is now trading above $76,500 and the 100 hourly simple moving average. If the price remains stable above $77,050, it could attempt a fresh increase. Immediate resistance is near the $77,450 level or the 83.2% Fib retracement level of the downward move from the $78,100 swing high to the $74,209 low.

The Chinese Yuan (CNY/USD) has surged to a fresh three-year high against the US dollar, climbing steadily toward the 0.1473 level. This sustained currency appreciation comes on the back of intense geopolitical friction and landmark structural shifts in the global energy trade—most notably, reports that Iran has accelerated the settlement of its crude oil exports using China's currency to bypass Western financial networks.



As the strategic chokepoint of the Strait of Hormuz experiences severe supply disruptions in energy history due to the ongoing regional conflict, the long-debated emergence of the "petroyuan" is rapidly turning from a theoretical concept into an active market reality, leaving clear technical marks on the foreign exchange charts.

Is the Petrodollar Dead?
The traditional petrodollar system is facing its most significant structural challenge in half a century, but it is not collapsing overnight. The displacement of the dollar in Iranian energy settlements represents a localized erosion of greenback hegemony rather than an immediate liquidation of the global reserve currency.

While the US dollar remains the dominant medium for international trade and liquid treasury markets, bilateral trade networks operating outside of the SWIFT system are expanding. Investors are closely monitoring how this monetary fragmentation will redirect global liquidity—and whether it will ultimately serve as a massive macro catalyst for decentralized digital assets.

XRP supply conditions had already tightened considerably before the market started confronting stronger resistance pressure near major breakout regions recently. Institutional accumulation also continued strengthening while price momentum gradually slowed beneath overhead liquidity conditions.

That structure increasingly reflected stronger long-term accumulation as nearly 898 million XRP became locked within ETF products. However, XRP still struggled to sustain momentum above the broader $1.50–$1.52 resistance region despite tightening available supply.

Slower breakout participation increasingly suggested larger sellers remain active beneath overhead liquidity zones across markets.

Over the past week, Bitcoin has traded sideways in the high $70,000 region, unable to reclaim the psychological $82,000 level that has eluded market bulls since mid-May. Notably, the $76,000 price level has now been tested three weeks in a row and held each time, emerging as a real support zone. However, an obscure on-chain metric may be flashing the clearest bottom signal in Bitcoin’s history.
Key Bearish Signal Arises From Investor Cost Basis Data
In an X post on May 22, CryptoChan shares data from an historically reliable bottom indicator built from two realized price bands: the 6m–10y Realized Price, representing the average acquisition cost of long-term holders, currently at $60,316; and the 0–10y Realized Price, a broader market average cost basis, sitting at $64,412.  The ratio between these two bands indicates how stressed long-term holders are relative to the broader market. When it drops below 0.936 and then recovers back toward 1.0, it has marked the precise bottom moment in every prior Bitcoin cycle.
This is because when the ratio touches 1.0, the green line (long-term holder cost) overtakes the black line (full market cost), meaning even the most conviction-driven holders are underwater. That is the moment when selling pressure is fully exhausted, and market sentiment is in extreme panic. In the 2015 bear market bottom, the ratio took 59 days to climb from 0.936 back to 1.0. In the 2018–2019 bear bottom, the recovery took 66 days. In the November 2022 FTX collapse-driven bottom, the journey took 50 days. The ratio is presently at 0.936 again. If the current reading holds and historical data repeats itself, Bitcoin’s definitive bottom window may open sometime around mid-to-late July 2026.
