Bitcoin continues to fall in August, becoming the worst performing asset

Cryptocurrency Bitcoin experienced another disappointing month, dropping nearly 15%, according to data provided by UK-based AcornMacroConsulting. It was the world's worst-performing asset in August this year, sitting at the bottom of the chart. Brazil's Bovespa stock index topped the chart after a violent rally in August, gaining almost 9% over the past month. The US dollar index (DXY) continues to dominate. The DXY index, which measures the strength of the dollar against other global fiat currencies, rose by 2.8% in August. India's broad-based stock market index, the NIFTY500, also rose by more than 2.1 per cent this month. The Tokyo Stock Exchange's stock market index, the Nikkei 225, was also in the green over the past month. The S&P 500, one of the largest stock market indices in the US, was down 2.4% for the month. The Nasdaq 100 index of technology stocks, whose performance is highly correlated with bitcoin, fell 3.6% in August.
