SBI Holdings teams up with Solana on a new onchain market in Japan

Japan's SBI Holdings and the Solana Foundation are teaming up to build an onchain financial market from Japan, a move both organizations are framing as a landmark step for digital finance, not just in Japan, but globally.

SBI Holdings and the Solana Foundation announced the strategic collaboration on July 13, 2026. 

As part of the collaborayiom, SBI R3 Japan Co., Ltd. plans to change its trade name to SBI Solana Global Co., Ltd. (a tentative name), and will pursue a new growth strategy alongside existing shareholders SBI Holdings and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG).

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said he and co-founder Chris Larsen seriously considered shutting the company down after the SEC sued in 2020 and distributing Ripple's XRP holdings to shareholders.

In a KU Hustle interview, Garlinghouse said they chose to fight instead because closing Ripple would have cost hundreds of jobs. He estimated the four-year legal battle cost the company about $150 million. The scenario concerned Ripple as a company, rather than a shutdown of the XRP Ledger or a loss of XRP held by the public.

XRP Boasts 3.13% Market Share: Could It Reach $50 in a $100T Crypto Market?
The $XRP community is discussing the token’s long-term value based on its current share of the cryptocurrency market.

$XRP currently accounts for 3.13% of the total crypto market, which stands at $2.15 trillion today. Meanwhile, $XRP commands only $66.74 billion of that market, with its price at $1.06.

This valuation makes $XRP the sixth-largest cryptocurrency, behind USDC, BNB, USDT, Ethereum, and Bitcoin.

Of all crypto assets, only Bitcoin has a trillion-dollar valuation. As for valuations above $100 billion, only Ethereum and Tether are in that range.

During the peak of the crypto bull market last year, however, the picture looked very different. Bitcoin’s market capitalization exceeded $2 trillion, Ethereum’s rose above $500 billion, and $XRP’s surpassed $210 billion. Today, all three have lost more than 50% of their value.

Regardless of the current market conditions, there is strong optimism that another bull market will emerge and crypto asset valuations will expand severalfold once again.

On 16th July, 92.65 million ARB are scheduled to enter circulation. The release is valued at around $8.53 million and makes up 1.65% of the token’s currently released supply.

The unlocked tokens will be divided between two main groups. Around 56.13 million ARB will go to the Arbitrum team, future team members, and advisors. The remaining 36.52 million ARB will be allocated to investors.

Here, it’s worth noting that token unlocks don’t always lead to immediate selling. However, the new supply can move price in the short-term, depending on how recipients manage their holdings.

AMBCrypto previously reported that 10% of fees collected from Robinhood Chain and other Arbitrum Layer-2 networks will be directed to the Arbitrum ecosystem. This development is separate from the token unlock, but the growing source of ecosystem value may also be factoring into ARB’s longer-term outlook.

How is ARB’s price doing?
Despite the impending event, ARB has recovered on the charts in recent sessions.

In fact, after falling towards the $0.07 range, the altcoin moved back above $0.09. Perhaps, there was buying interest ahead of the unlock.

The RSI was near 63 at press time meaning that the buyers had the upper hand without moving into overbought territory. MACD also turned positive, and that supported the move up.

The unlock could test this recovery. The future depends on whether buying demand stays strong enough to absorb the additional tokens.

Hope for derivatives traders?
Finally, ARB’s Aggregated Open Interest went up to around $60.9 million. Many more traders seemed to be holding active positions in the market.
