President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran on Thursday, demanding that the country stop charging fees to tankers navigating the Strait of Hormuz. The warning came amid a delicate ceasefire following weeks of conflict that has severely disrupted global energy markets.Taking to Truth Social, Trump stated plainly that Iran should not be collecting any toll payments from vessels passing through the strait, adding that if such fees were already being levied, Iran needed to halt the practice immediately. Summary: Coinbase informed the Senate Banking Committee offices of serious concerns about the Tillis-Alsobrooks compromise, which prohibits passive income from stablecoin balances and restricts access to transaction size data used to calculate rewards. These changes affect the infrastructure Coinbase uses to generate stablecoin revenue, rather than simply limiting a single product feature. Coinbase reported $1.35 billion in stablecoin revenue in 2025, largely related to its USDC distribution agreement with Circle; Provisions excluding stablecoin yield could deprive the exchange of approximately $800 million in annual revenue, making the issue a key financial matter rather than a policy objection. CEO Brian Armstrong first withdrew his support in January, stating, "We'd rather have no bill than a bad bill." A second formal withdrawal of the bill, reported by Punchbowl News around March 25, followed a revised draft that further tightened rather than weakened the yield language. As TheStreet reported, Coinbase representatives told Senate offices that the exchange cannot yet support the latest version, citing serious concerns about the stablecoin yield language. The Tillis-Alsobrooks proposal goes beyond the existing yield restrictions of the base bill by also restricting exchange access to transaction size data, which is the computational layer that makes volume- or activity-based rewards in stablecoins technically possible.
