Strategy, BitMine Stock Prices Dive as Bitcoin and Ethereum Sink

Ethereum giant BitMine Immersion Technologies and top Bitcoin treasury Strategy and have seen their stocks slide amid a fresh round of investor worry, with both of their respective assets of choice both falling hard Thursday.

Upon the close of markets on Thursday, BitMine, which trades under the BMNR ticker on the Nasdaq, had shed nearly 10% and was changing hands for $26.70. BMNR dipped as low as $26.02 on the day, matching its $26.02 close on November 2, 2025.

At the start of the week, Tom Lee's BitMine made its biggest buy yet in 2026 by acquiring $116 million worth of $ETH. Since the start of the year, the company has made three other purchases: $108 million, $76 million, and $100 million. The Ethereum treasury company now holds approximately $11.9 billion worth of $ETH, or 3.5% of the total supply, according to a tracker maintained by price aggregator CoinGecko.

Meanwhile, Strategy saw its shares take a similar slide, reaching a lot not seen in more than a year. As of the close of trading, MSTR had also fallen by nearly 10% and was changing hands for $143.19. Thursday's low of $139.36 was the lowest price registered for MSTR since September 2024, according to Yahoo Finance data.

The company, co-founded by chairman and outspoken Bitcoin bull Michael Saylor, added to its treasury on Monday, too. MSTR announced that it spent $267 million on Bitcoin last week. The 712,647 $BTC in its treasury is now valued at approximately $60 billion at current prices.

Thursday's decline across both the equities and crypto markets came amid signs of potential turmoil. The UAE has officially entered the stablecoin race. Universal Digital Intl Limited on Thursday launched USDU, the country’s first central bank–approved stablecoin, giving it a regulatory edge over Circle’s USDC as competition heats up in the region. Summary Universal Digital launched USDU, giving it a regulatory advantage over Circle’s USDC for settling digital-asset transactions in the country. USDU is the only stablecoin officially recognized for full compliance with UAE settlement rules. The UAE wants to become a global crypto hub amid new offerings from players like Tether and Fidelity. Registered directly with the Central Bank of the UAE, Universal Digital is the first issuer authorized to roll out a Foreign Payment Token, according to The Block. USDU is fully backed by U.S. dollars held at major UAE banks including Emirates NBD, Mashreq, and Mbank, positioning it as the only stablecoin with official status for settling digital-asset transactions under UAE rules. Circle, the issuer of USDC, received a license from Abu Dhabi Global Market in December to operate as a money services provider and expand payments across the UAE and Middle East. But that license stops short of central bank registration, meaning USDC can operate locally without enjoying the same settlement status as USDU—a distinction that gives Universal a clear regulatory advantage for institutions requiring full compliance. Universal has partnered with Aquanow, a Dubai VARA-regulated crypto infrastructure provider, to plug USDU into the broader digital-asset ecosystem. The launch aligns with the UAE’s broader push to establish itself as a global crypto hub and comes as institutional interest in stablecoins accelerates, following moves by Tether to introduce a U.S.-compliant stablecoin and Fidelity’s launch of its FIDD token. The crypto market moved higher after US President Donald Trump said the United States would pause the imposition of new tariffs following what he described as a “productive meeting” with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said the US had formed the framework of a future agreement covering Greenland and the wider Arctic region. He added that tariffs scheduled to take effect on 1 February would no longer go ahead.

Crypto markets reacted swiftly, with broad-based gains across Bitcoin and major altcoins.Bitcoin was among the immediate beneficiaries of the shift in tone. The asset recovered from earlier weakness as traders responded to the reduced likelihood of near-term trade escalation between the US and its European allies.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin’s market capitalisation stood at approximately $1.79 trillion, remaining firmly above other digital assets. 

The price move reflected a broader “risk-on” response rather than a Bitcoin-specific catalyst, with macro headlines once again shaping short-term market direction.

While Bitcoin had struggled in recent days amid uncertainty around tariffs and transatlantic relations, Trump’s remarks helped stabilise sentiment and reduce downside pressure.Altcoins posted stronger percentage gains than Bitcoin, suggesting renewed appetite for higher-beta assets. 

Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency, rose alongside the broader market, with its market capitalisation hovering around $361 billion.
