Investment Company ARK Invest Bought Depreciated Block Inc Shares for $15 Million

ARK Invest, led by Cathie Wood, purchased $15.4 million worth of shares in Block Inc. on August 18, 2026, as the fintech company's stock price fell 3.2% to $80.20. The acquisition was made through the Ark Innovation ETF (ARKK) and Ark Blockchain & Fintech Innovation ETF (ARKF). This follows a nearly $21 million purchase the previous week, which occurred after Block reported weaker-than-expected Q2 2026 financial results, causing a more than 6% single-day drop. Despite recent corrections, Block's stock has risen nearly 50% over the past six months, leading the company to raise its full-year profit forecast by 21% to $12.51 billion. Block Inc. now constitutes 6.47% of Ark Invest's portfolio, becoming the second-largest holding in the ARKF ETF. Additionally, Ark bought 189,796 shares of Securitize for $1.02 million after its price declined 3.9% to $5.39.

Katie Wood's Investment Company Bought $21 Million Worth of Block Shares Amid Their 6% Decline

Kathy Wood's Ark Invest purchased approximately $21 million worth of Block Inc. (XYZ) shares after the fintech company's stock fell over 6% on August 6th, despite the company reporting Q2 results that beat analyst forecasts. Block's Q2 revenue reached $6.62 billion, a 9% year-over-year increase. Adjusted earnings per share grew 65% to $1.02, and gross profit rose 25% to $3.17 billion. However, Mizuho analysts expressed concerns about rising operating expenses, which may increase from $4.48 billion in the first half to $4.56 billion in the second half. The company had previously laid off about 40% of its staff in February. Taking advantage of the stock decline, Ark Invest bought 267,676 shares of Jack Dorsey's Block for its ARKK, ARKW, and ARKF ETFs. Block remains a significant holding for Ark; for example, it is the tenth-largest position in the ARKW fund, valued at about $60 million and representing a 3.51% portfolio weight. Ark typically limits individual holdings to 10% of a fund's portfolio. On August 7th, Ark also bought 20,318 SpaceX shares worth nearly $2.3 million through several funds and sold 39,509 shares of Bullish for $910,287 via ARKW.

ARK Invest's Cathie Wood Buys 109,129 Circle Shares Worth $6.83 Million

ARK Invest, led by Cathie Wood, purchased approximately 109,129 shares of Circle for nearly $6.83 million across three of its ETFs: ARK Innovation, ARK Next Generation Internet, and ARK Fintech Innovation. This investment followed Circle's recent receipt of a trust charter license from the New York Department of Financial Services for its subsidiary, Circle New York Trust, which CEO Jeremy Allaire described as a long-term company goal. Despite this regulatory approval, Circle's stock (CRCL) fell 2.54% to $62.61 on July 31, as investors may not have viewed the license as a catalyst for growth. In the same period, ARK Invest also bought shares in Tesla, SpaceX, and Nvidia worth about $40.2 million amid a broader tech sell-off, while reducing its holdings in companies like Shopify, Cloudflare, and CrowdStrike.
