The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has published the results of a comprehensive analysis of the Hegotá project, planned as one of the next major upgrades to the Ethereum network. The research, published by the Protocol Cluster unit within the Foundation, reviewed and evaluated 62 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) submitted for the upgrade.
Published under the title "Compilation of Opinions and EIP Ratings for Hegotá," this assessment represents the first unified EIP rating from the Protocol Cluster for a single Ethereum network upgrade. About 60 researchers, engineers, and experts from nine different Protocol Cluster teams participated in the review process. Participants submitted a total of 397 review comments, with some controversial proposals being discussed in in-person meetings.
Another study published by the Ethereum Foundation outlined the current and long-term development priorities for Ethereum's protocol layer. The most important of these goals was to ensure the resilience of the Ethereum Layer 1 network against quantum computers by December 2029.
The Foundation stated that the scope of the Hegotá upgrade was defined by considering the long-term technical commitments of the Protocol Cluster and the common priorities identified among the teams. The published evaluation of the 62 EIP drafts is also expected to contribute to the decision-making process regarding which proposals will be included in the upgrade.
