Abstract

Robinhood has expanded its prediction market offerings through a partnership with Crypto.com’s CFTC-regulated derivatives platform OG.com. Starting September 8, a portion of Robinhood's event contracts, particularly for the upcoming football season, will be routed to OG.com. As part of the deal, Robinhood Markets will acquire a minority stake in both Crypto.com and the newly independent OG.com, aligned with Crypto.com’s recent $200 billion valuation from Citadel Securities. The collaboration aims to create a more diverse and resilient market by routing contracts across multiple venues, including existing partners Kalshi, ForecastEX, and Rothera. Robinhood reported record prediction market activity, with over 30 billion contracts traded in the first eight months of 2026 alone. Alongside this partnership, Robinhood is enhancing its user experience for football and the 2026 midterm elections. New features include real-time data, dedicated trading hubs, interactive heat maps for election tracking, and a wider variety of contract types. CEO Vlad Tenev described prediction markets as the company’s fastest-growing business, signaling strong future expansion in this sector.

Deep Tide Guide: Robinhood launches event contracts by partnering with Crypto.com's prediction market platform OG.com, acquiring a minority stake. This marks a new convergence point for traditional brokerages and crypto platforms within regulatory gray areas. Investors should note: the prediction market is transitioning from being crypto-native to entering mainstream brokerage channels.

In the first eight months of this year, Robinhood's prediction market achieved record highs in both revenue and trading volume. In the second quarter alone, 13.6 billion event contracts were traded on Robinhood; during the World Cup period, over 5 billion contracts were traded. In June this year, we also began routing contracts to Rothera (a CFTC-licensed exchange and clearing house independently operated by a joint venture between Robinhood and Susquehanna International Group) to bring greater diversity to our markets.

Today, we are building on this momentum: partnering with Crypto.com to begin routing a portion of event contracts to its CFTC-regulated exchange and clearing house, timed ahead of the start of the professional football season. This CFTC-regulated exchange and clearing house operates under the brand Crypto.com | Derivatives North America (CDNA) within the Crypto.com App, alongside a standalone trader-facing App branded as OG.com. Starting September 8, we will route a portion of football contracts to OG.com.

As part of the deal, following the spin-off of OG.com as an independent trading platform, Robinhood Markets will hold equity in both Crypto.com and OG.com. The valuation of this equity stake aligns with Citadel Securities' recent investment in Crypto.com Group, corresponding to a $20 billion valuation.

"Routing event contracts to multiple venues helps create a stronger, more diverse, and resilient market," said JB Mackenzie, Vice President & General Manager of Futures & Prediction Markets at Robinhood. "With football season returning and the midterm elections approaching, we are thrilled to partner with Crypto.com and OG.com, and Robinhood's prediction market is poised for an exciting autumn."

"This is the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two companies," said Kris Marszalek, Founder and CEO of Crypto.com and OG.com. "We look forward to building OG.com into the world's most liquid venue for trading innovative derivatives, starting with prediction markets and rapidly expanding to futures and perpetual contracts."

While event contracts on Robinhood will continue to be routed to Kalshi, ForecastEX, and Rothera, this collaboration with Crypto.com and OG.com comes at an opportune time, strengthening our football prediction market hub.

A New Season for College and Professional Football

In addition to routing a portion of contracts to OG.com, the trading experience for both professional and college football has been revamped. The new experience provides superior real-time data and features a dedicated trading hub, allowing customers to easily filter contracts by week, team, league, and other criteria. Player data and team ranking data will launch later this fall.

This season, customers will also be able to trade a wider variety of contract types, including game outcome contracts, player contracts, and custom combination contracts. College and professional football contracts will be routed to different combinations of OG.com, Kalshi, and Rothera based on factors such as supply availability at each exchange.

US Midterm Election Hub

Beyond the partnership with Crypto.com and OG.com, ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, we are launching our most comprehensive election product to date. This includes a dedicated election hub, allowing customers to quickly and intuitively access state and federal-level markets that affect them. As part of this effort, we will also introduce a new interactive heat map directly within the hub, providing a clear view of each candidate's standing at various levels of government. This feature will launch later this fall. After polls close, we will bring near real-time vote data directly into the product experience, showing votes counted and their percentage of the estimated total vote.

Those who closely followed the 2024 cycle may have noticed that the 'wisdom of the crowd' confidently predicted the outcome of the 2024 presidential election well before official results were announced by polling stations nationwide. We believe that observing these midterm prediction markets in real time will become another powerful tool for investors to gain early and ongoing information both before and on election night.

Midterm election contracts are currently routed to Kalshi and Rothera, with potential expansion to Crypto.com and OG.com in the coming weeks.

The Impact of Prediction Markets

Since launching approximately two years ago, customers have traded over 45 billion contracts on Robinhood, with over 30 billion of those occurring just from the start of this year through the end of August. As Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said earlier this year: "Prediction markets have become the fastest-growing business in our history... I think we're just at the beginning of a super cycle for prediction markets..."
