Solana: Can SOL reclaim $90 after $17M whale accumulation?

The broader crypto market showed signs of recovery as its total market cap rose 2.4% to $2.4 trillion, signaling fresh capital inflows. Riding this momentum, Solana [SOL] briefly crossed $90 for the first time in nearly two weeks, hitting a local high of $91.

Bitcoin has spent the past two weeks in a war zone; not literally, but functionally. Since US and Israeli forces launched coordinated strikes on Iran on February 28, crypto markets have been held hostage by geopolitical shock, energy price chaos, and a global risk-off mood that has kept institutional conviction firmly on the sidelines.

Now, with Trump signaling he wants the conflict over soon, what happens to Bitcoin? The answer is based on current on-chain data and market structure, and ETF flows, for instance, are already leaning positively.

Bitcoin Trading Under A Geopolitical Discount
Bitcoin was already showing signs of a market that had been beaten down but not broken before a single missile was fired. On-and-off tensions in the Middle East have had broad consequences across global markets, and Bitcoin was not immune to these pressures.

Bitcoin hit $74,000 in early March before pulling back as news of Iranian counter-strikes rattled investor sentiment. That price level is now the most important level the market needs to reclaim, and the tensions are the primary obstacle standing in the way.

However, according to the report from Glassnode, the leading cryptocurrency has begun to recover for the larger part of its metrics. Momentum has begun to recover, and the RSI has lifted from recent lows, but price action is still looking for the strength of a decisive bullish move. Still, the realized profit-to-loss ratio, supply in profit, and net unrealized profit and loss (NUPL) are all posting modest improvements.

Bitcoin rises to one-month high of $73,800, continuing to outperform since start of Iran war



Bitcoin $BTC$71,859.13 is adding to overnight gains in early U.S. trading on Friday, continuing to show strong relative price action after many months of underperformance to assets like stocks and precious metals.

Trading at $73,800, bitcoin is higher by nearly 5% over the past 24 hours, with most of those gains coming after U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Thursday evening said the Trump administration is taking concrete steps to try and cap surging oil prices.

Bitcoin is now higher by about 11% since the Iran war broke out, outperforming broad U.S. stock indices and gold, both of which have lost ground since the bombs began dropping about two weeks ago.

WTI oil on Friday is trading at $94.50 per barrel, down from a high of nearly $98 on Thursday. U.S. stocks are posting gains of about 0.5%.

Oil raises stagflationary risk

The recent spike in oil prices is putting direct pressure on household budgets and, if sustained, could weaken consumer spending and slow economic growth, according to Olu Sonola, head of US economics at Fitch Ratings.

"Yes, the broader economy is still expected to grow at trend, but that forecast increasingly looks fragile as downside risks accumulate. ... The Fed can shrug off pockets of weakening growth, but resurgent inflation severely limits its room to maneuver, leaving policy potentially stranded for months," he wrote in a note.

Relief bounce

After a period of some of the worst sentiment in bitcoin's history, it's perhaps not too surprising that there's been some modest gains of late.

Ethereum ($ETH) founder Vitali Buterin, who gained attention for donating altcoins sent to him as gifts, recently spoke about the $SHIB tokens he donated.

Accordingly, Vitalik Buterin shared a tweet about the donations he has made over the past five years. These donations include numerous popular memecoins, including $SHIB.

In 2021, Buterin shared details of a donation, stating that he had donated the SHIBs that the mysterious Shiba Inu founder, Ryoshi, had sent him.

Buterin stated that in 2021 he donated some of these SHIBs to an organization called the Future of Life Institute (FLI), but added that he no longer shares the same views as that organization.

In a statement from his X account, Buterin said that his $500 million donation to FLI in 2021 was used for political advocacy, deviating from the initially proposed technical roadmap.

“In 2021, I bought a large amount of $SHIB and other Dogecoins because the creators used the phrase “we own half of our Vitalik supply” as a marketing tactic and wanted to be “the next Dogecoin.”

I felt that this was definitely a bubble, that it would burst quickly and the price would drop drastically, so I sold as much as I could in $ETH and donated it. I sent half to Crypto Relief and the other half to FLI.

…However, the situation has changed significantly since 2021, and its political aspects have emerged….”

Buterin stated that he had initially thought his $SHIB donation to FLI would generate a profit of around $10-25 million, but they had managed to achieve a profit of approximately $500 million.
