Fresh U.S. labor market data has intensified expectations that the Federal Reserve may soon move toward rate cuts after the economy shed around 92,000 jobs, signaling cooling employment conditions.

The data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics pushed unemployment to roughly 4.4%, raising concerns about a broader slowdown.

Following the report, Michelle Bowman acknowledged the labor market may require support.

“I was comfortable holding rates earlier this year,” Bowman said, adding that the latest data confirms that labor conditions are weakening and could benefit from policy easing. 

When Could the Fed Start Cutting Rates?

As per earlier plans, there was no rate cut in March, but looking at the labor market scenario, the next policy decision from the Federal Reserve is scheduled for March 17–18, as per a Bloomberg report. However, most economists expect officials to wait before making their first rate cut. According to Christopher Waller, future rate decisions will depend heavily on incoming employment data and inflation trends, suggesting the central bank will remain cautious.

Seychelles-based cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin has been ordered to halt its operations in Dubai after regulators determined the platform was operating without the required authorization.

The action was announced Thursday by Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), which stated that KuCoin does not hold a license to provide virtual asset services in or from the emirate.

Dubai Bars KuCoin From Offering Services To Residents
In its public alert, VARA said that any virtual asset-related activities conducted or promoted by the exchange in Dubai are in violation of the authority’s regulations.

The regulator emphasized that under Dubai Law No. (4) of 2022 and UAE Cabinet Resolution No. 111/2022, all virtual asset service providers must obtain proper licensing to legally operate in the jurisdiction.

According to Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, KuCoin does not meet those legal requirements and is not authorized to offer any virtual asset services to residents of Dubai.

The regulator also warned that engaging with companies that fail to comply with VARA regulations, associated rulebooks, and broader UAE legislation could expose users to significant financial harm, as well as potential legal consequences tied to regulatory or even criminal violations.

VARA further clarified that any promotion, marketing, or solicitation connected to KuCoin has not been approved by the authority. As a result, the exchange is not permitted to advertise, promote, or offer virtual asset products or services within Dubai or to its residents.

Regulatory Scrutiny Intensifies
The warning from Dubai comes amid broader regulatory scrutiny facing KuCoin in other regions. In Europe, Austria’s financial regulator recently restricted the exchange’s European arm from conducting new business and onboarding additional customers.

Lending protocols, meanwhile, maintain steadier revenue through persistent borrowing demand. Aave [AAVE] generated $1.62 million in daily fees and $82.14 million over 30 days. At the same time, its $32.4 billion TVL is anchoring liquidity across major lending markets.

Morpho is continuing to expand with about $2.3 million in weekly fees and $7 billion in TVL. Maple Finance has also strengthened institutional credit through real-world asset lending. These models rely on utilization rather than speculative trading volume.

Utilization levels reinforce this stability. Right now, Aave’s stablecoin markets hold near 60%, while Morpho vaults often exceed 85%. As speculative sectors fluctuate, on-chain credit increasingly stands out as DeFi’s most durable revenue engine.

Aave’s lending model delivers consistent revenue
Aave has demonstrated strong and consistent revenue generation across market cycles. In fact, the monthly revenue reached $13.4 million in February – Indicative of 31% growth month over month. At the same time, year-over-year expansion climbed by roughly 38%.

Previous months showed moderate fluctuations, with revenue dipping near $5 million before steadily rising above $15 million in late 2025. Meanwhile, the cumulative revenue curve has been hiking consistently, highlighting persistent fee generation across the protocol.

Over the trailing twelve months, revenue approached roughly $145 million too.
