$GRVT A core infrastructure engineer for a New Jersey industrial company locked it out of the company’s network and demanded 20 BTC, or approximately $750,000 at the time, or more servers would go down. He received a 32-month federal prison sentence for the scheme.

Daniel Rhyne, 59, was sentenced by Judge Michael A. Shipp on September 28 in Trenton.

Rhyne, of Kansas City, Missouri, entered a guilty plea to two counts in April. One was extortion related to a threat to damage a protected computer, the other was intentional damage to one.

Scheduled tasks wiped 13 admin accounts and locked 3,284 workstations

At the firm, he specialized in virtual machines, the FBI complaint stated.

The firm sits in Somerset County, New Jersey, and counts biopharmaceutical and oil and gas companies as clients.

From November 8 to November 25, 2023, Rhyne employed an administrator account he was not authorized to access to remotely get into the network. Jobs he queued on the domain controller, then wiped out 13 domain admin accounts.

The same tasks also set 301 user passwords, and the administrator’s password, to “TheFr0zenCrew!” Two local admin accounts ended up at “PsPasswd,” locking staff out of 254 servers.

Another alteration locked 3,284 workstations. For several days that December, machines across the network went down randomly.

Administrators began getting alerts around 4 p.m. on November 25 as password resets triggered across hundreds of accounts, the complaint says. All other domain admin accounts were already gone.

Forty-four minutes later, the staff got an email titled “Your Network Has Been Penetrated.” It claimed backups were deleted.

If 20 BTC wasn’t received by December 2, 40 servers a day would be turned off for 10 days. On Wednesday, Bitcoin traded near $83,000, making 20 BTC worth about $1.7 million, more than double the demand’s 2023 value.

Stellar (XLM) Outpaces Ethereum in Tokenized Fund Inflows Amid $4 Billion RWA Surge

The Stellar (XLM) blockchain has taken first place globally in daily institutional capital inflows into investment funds, overtaking Ethereum. According to data from RWA.xyz and Token Terminal, net inflows into Stellar-based investment funds totaled $17.1 million over the past 24 hours, compared with $16.0 million for Ethereum and $5.9 million for Polygon.

The surge marks a fourfold expansion of Stellar's RWA sector since the end of last year. The total value of real-world assets on the network has grown by 360%, reaching a record $3.5–4 billion.

As a result, Stellar has climbed to third place in the global blockchain ranking by assets under management (AUM), now trailing only Ethereum and BNB Chain.

How this market works and where the money is going
Capital inflows are being driven by major regulated funds that have distributed liquidity across three key jurisdictions:

France: The network's largest asset is the Spiko Amundi Overnight Swap Fund (EUR), a government bond fund with $1.29 billion in assets operating under the European Union's UCITS framework.

United States: Franklin Templeton's BENJI government money market fund holds $521.1 million, while the Ondo U.S. Dollar Yield (USDY) fund has $537.1 million under SEC oversight.

Luxembourg: The Yuleba Bond 2030 corporate credit instrument accounts for $500 million.

Circle's USDC stablecoin, with $367.7 million, serves as the ecosystem's settlement gateway. Compliant with Europe's MiCA regulation, it maintains a record 707,248 active addresses for the RWA sector, with monthly transfer volume reaching $10.72 billion.

$XRP Chart Copies 2017 Bull-Run Magnitude Onto Current Setup—Here’s What the Blue Line Means.

$XRP’s weekly chart shared by Patrick L Riley is drawing a direct comparison with the historic 2017 rally by copying the magnitude of that move onto the current market structure.

$XRP’s weekly chart uses a blue vertical measurement to compare the current structure with the historic 2017-2018 bull run. Repeating the roughly 66,000% expansion from a base near $1 would mathematically place the upper projection around the $650 region, while $XRP must first hold macro support and clear descending resistance. Image source: @Acquired_Savant, chart by The Crypto Basic
The blue vertical measurement is the most aggressive part of the setup: if $XRP ever repeated the percentage expansion that followed its 2017 breakout, the move would extend into the hundreds of dollars.

The chart snapshot places $XRP around $1.3758, while current CoinMarketCap data has the asset near $1.39.

On the weekly candle shown, $XRP opened near $1.5203, traded as low as $1.3188, and was down roughly 9.5% at the time of the snapshot.

What the Blue $XRP Line Actually Represents
The blue measurement is not simply adding the dollar amount $XRP gained in 2017.

It is copying the percentage magnitude of the old bull run onto the newer structure.

The Crypto Basic previously tracked $XRP’s historic move from around $0.005 in March 2017 to $3.31 in January 2018, an increase of roughly 66,000%.

That works out to an ending price roughly 662 times the starting level.

The latest chart places another blue vertical measurement over the current cycle, beginning around the recent $0.95-$1.00 region.

Applying a similar 662x expansion from that area would mathematically produce roughly $630-$660 $XRP.

That is why the top of the blue projection reaches the neighborhood of $650 on the logarithmic scale.

This is a historical-repeat calculation, not evidence that $XRP will actually reproduce a 66,000% rally.

Bitcoin is under scrutiny following reports of significant security concerns linked to AI advancements and the transfer of over 17.7K BTC to Coinbase. This movement, highlighted by the commentator @K33Research, raises questions about the security of elliptic-curve cryptography amidst evolving technology. The implications for traders could be substantial, particularly regarding Bitcoin’s supply dynamics and market confidence.

The Latest

The broader cryptocurrency landscape continues to show mixed signals, with Bitcoin’s on-chain movements indicating a potential shift in supply dynamics. The recent transfer of 17.7K BTC to Coinbase suggests that these coins may not be immediately sold, reflecting strategic accumulation rather than liquidation. Such moves often stir market sentiment and could influence trading behaviors in the near term, especially given the heightened security concerns surrounding AI’s impact on cryptography.

Key Details

K33 Research highlights two significant issues affecting Bitcoin: security fears and substantial on-chain movements. The recent transfer of 17.7K BTC to Coinbase raises eyebrows, although most coins are likely held rather than sold. Current concerns regarding AI’s effect on elliptic-curve cryptography have emerged, with no evidence yet suggesting a compromise. These elements create a complex backdrop for Bitcoin’s market dynamics moving forward.

Token Metrics

As of now, Bitcoin’s market performance shows no notable price change, with transaction activity appearing sporadic. The atmosphere is mixed, reflecting traders’ caution in light of the security fears related to AI advancements. The lack of immediate volatility suggests that participants are weighing the longer-term implications of these developments rather than reacting impulsively.
