Рабочая группа была основана в 2022 году компаниями Braiins и Spiral для разработки и поддержки протокола Stratum v2 как открытой и независимой от поставщиков спецификации, пригодной для использования в экосистеме майнинга биткоинов. Протокол является обновлением оригинального протокола майнинга Stratum, обеспечивая значительное повышение эффективности, конфиденциальности, безопасности и функциональности, которые могут быть использованы для улучшения общей децентрализации майнинга.

Присоединение новых членов, всех крупных игроков в экосистеме майнинга, представляет собой большой шаг вперед для прогресса рабочей группы в обеспечении надлежащего функционирования и совместимости в реальных масштабах майнинга.
