Morgan Stanley’s $50.6M BTC buying shields market – But rally to $82K has THIS hurdle
The institutional demand around Bitcoin strengthened as Morgan Stanley expanded MSBT holdings while ETF inflows remained positive.

Reportedly, Morgan Stanley’s MSBT Bitcoin ETF received another 51.58 $BTC, valued at around $4 million, from Coinbase Prime.

Notably, the latest transaction followed a series of transfers into the fund for the previous two weeks. Across these transfers, MSBT has now received a total of 641.87 $BTC, worth roughly $50.6 million.

Therefore, Morgan Stanley’s persistent accumulation enhanced Bitcoin’s institutional demand narrative as its price consolidated after a rapid expansion.

Importantly, the transfers showed several additions across the two-week period, rather than reflecting a single large transaction. The pattern became particularly notable as Bitcoin remained beneath its recent $82,000 resistance.

Therefore, the institutional accumulation continued while Bitcoin consolidated, potentially supporting demand around its current price structure.

ETF inflows broaden the demand picture

Beyond Morgan Stanley, the broader Bitcoin spot ETF flows also remained positive during the most recent reporting period.

Specifically, Bitcoin spot ETFs registered $6 million in daily total net inflows, equivalent to roughly 78.39 $BTC. Meanwhile, the cumulative net inflows reached nearly $55.63 billion, representing around 695,820 $BTC tokens.

These positive flows implied that institutional demand extended beyond Morgan Stanley’s recent accumulation.

The daily figure, however, remained relatively modest compared with the total cumulative ETF inflow.

Even so, the positive flows complemented MSBT’s accumulation, thus strengthening the broader demand outlook around Bitcoin.

Therefore persistent ETF inflows could provide additional buying support in case Bitcoin continues defending its current demand area.

UniCredit is exploring an expansion into digital assets that would add crypto custody and brokerage, and has started selecting a technology provider to hold the assets and handle client transactions, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

As per the report, the discussions are early, and no final decision has been made. Areas under consideration include custody and brokerage, tokenized investment products and fixed-income securities, and stablecoin applications for clients. UniCredit has not disclosed which providers it is weighing, how much it might spend, or when it would choose one.

Any crypto services would fall under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, whose grace period ended on July 1. MiCA requires crypto-asset service providers to hold a license and lets authorized firms passport custody and trading across the 30-country European Economic Area.

Selecting an outside technology provider is the path other large banks have taken into crypto custody. Deutsche Bank tapped Swiss firm Taurus for digital asset custody and tokenization after what the vendor called a detailed selection and due diligence process.

UniCredit has already put crypto products in front of clients. The bank opened a five-year, dollar-denominated certificate linked to BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) to professional clients in July 2025, with full capital protection at maturity, a cap of 85% on returns and a $25,000 minimum. It was the first product of its kind in Italy.

In December 2025, UniCredit and state lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti structured Italy’s first tokenized minibond on a public blockchain, a €5 million issue for E4 Computer Engineering recorded on Polygon.

UniCredit also belongs to Qivalis, an Amsterdam consortium that has grown to 37 European banks across 15 countries and plans to launch a MiCA-compliant euro stablecoin on Ethereum in

Bitwise Investment Advisers said on September 10 that it will liquidate and close the Bitwise Dogecoin ETF (BWOW), less than a year after the fund began trading. The firm said the move is part of an effort to optimise its product range for evolving investor needs, while shareholders face an October deadline before the ETF stops trading on NYSE Arca.

BWOW liquidation and NYSE Arca deadline
BWOW is expected to cease trading on NYSE Arca after October 14, 2026, according to Bitwise's Form 8-K filing. Investors who remain in the fund are scheduled to receive cash based on its net asset value as of October 21, with the distribution expected on or around October 22.

After the liquidation, BWOW holders will no longer own ETF shares. Beyond Bitwise's stated product-range rationale, the filing provided no further explanation for the closure.

Bitcoin vs Ethereum ETFs: Which asset is winning September’s flow battle?
After a strong August rally, where the Spot Bitcoin [$BTC] ETFs recorded $3.52 billion in inflows in a month, the September effect seems to be kicking in. In the past week, from 8th to 11th September, $BTC ETFs recorded outflows worth $462.73 million.

The week started on a negative note with a cumulative net outflow reaching $46.6 million. This was mainly because of Fidelity’s $17.1 million, Invesco’s $4.7 million, and particularly Grayscale GBTC, which saw a huge $65.5M outflow.

Bitcoin ETFs’ weekly flow analysis

On 9th September, selling pressure became stronger with BlackRock experiencing a $19.5 million outflow, ARKB losing $78.0 million, and Grayscale GBTC losing another $27.2 million, bringing the net outflows to $120.2 million.

The situation deteriorated further on 10th September, which was the worst day of the week with $282.7 million in net outflow. However, on 11th September, things were a little better as the total outflows totaled just $13.2 million.

Across these four days, the ETFs collectively experienced approximately $462.7 million of cumulative net outflows, with Ark Invest’s ARKB and Grayscale GBTC being the most significant sources of selling pressure.

This happened at the same time the price of Bitcoin fell from around $79K to $77,324.76 at press time after a drop of 2.9% in the past week.

Ethereum ETFs took a different route

Though Spot Ethereum [$ETH] ETFs usually follow a very similar pattern to $BTC ETFs, this time things were a little different. On 8th September, activity was relatively weak, as the total net outflow reached $24.3 million.

On 9th September, the trend reversed decisively, with the products recording a total net inflow of $34.7 million. But on 10th September, selling pressure returned.
