Days later, federal prosecutors in Manhattan moved to put the man who built one of the most-used mixers back on trial.

A Split Jury, A Second Chance

Manhattan US Attorney Jay Clayton filed a letter Monday asking federal Judge Katherine Polk Failla to schedule a retrial for Roman Storm, co-founder of Tornado Cash, on two counts where jurors deadlocked last year.

Clayton’s office is pushing for trial dates between October 5 and 12, with proceedings expected to run three weeks.

Prosecutors said they were ready to go as early as spring, but Storm’s defense team indicated they wouldn’t be available until late 2026.

Geoffrey Kendrick, Global Head of Digital Assets Research at Standard Chartered, said:
"We expect more pain and a final capitulation period for digital asset prices in the coming months. The macro environment is unlikely to provide support until Kevin Warsh takes over at the Fed."
Short-term downside projections:
BTC: Around $50,000
ETH: Around $1,400
Kendrick views these levels as potential buying opportunities, with year-end forecasts of $100,000 for BTC and $4,000 for ETH. He also noted that ETF holders are more likely to sell than buy the dip, contributing to near-term pressure.
Revised targets for 2026 vs previous estimates:
BTC: $100,000 (was $150,000)
ETH: $4,000 (was $7,500)
XRP: $2.80 (was $8.00)
SOL: $135 (was $250)
For 2027, targets were also lowered, while long-term 2030 projections remain unchanged:
BTC: $500,000
ETH: $40,000
XRP: $28
SOL: $2,000
Despite near-term reductions, Standard Chartered maintains a constructive long-term outlook for major digital assets, highlighting potential entry points for strategic investors.
