Bitcoin BTC$72,556.52 looks to be gathering bullish momentum, with volatility expected to increase as prices near a $3 billion trigger point.
The leading cryptocurrency by market value climbed through $72,100 during European hours, the widely tracked average price over the past 50 days. According to analysts, a firm move above this level would confirm bullish momentum, potentially drawing in more buyers.

Volatility is likely to pick up should prices near $75,000. That's where options market makers, who provide order-book liquidity and ensure a seamless trading experience, are holding net "short gamma" positions worth $3 billion, according to Markus Thielen, the founder of 10x Research.

It means that as prices climb toward that level, these entities are likely to buy to rebalance their net exposure to neutral even as prices rise. This so-called dealer hedging could boost market volatility, potentially accelerating any rally. Note that market makers make money through the bid-ask spread, not price direction.
"The options market shows roughly $3 billion of negative gamma exposure at the $75,000 strike, meaning dealers are likely short gamma around this level. As Bitcoin moves higher toward this region, dealer hedging flows can begin to play a more important role in shaping price dynamics," Thielen said in a note to clients.

That's not, however, a set-in-concrete scenario. Alex Kuptsikevich, the chief market analyst at FxPro, worries that macro headwinds will arrest gains in bitcoin.

"External factors are acting as a headwind, including rising oil and dollar prices, as well as the Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 indices falling to their 200-day lows.

However, he chose to leave at the height of the NFT craze, and a few months later, the NFT market collapsed.  Now, he's made money again in the AI ​​boom.

JPMorgan says bitcoin and gold ETFs show sharp flow divergence since Iran war

The largest spot gold ETF, GLD, has seen outflows of about 2.7% of assets, while the largest spot bitcoin ETF, IBIT, has recorded inflows of around 1.5% of assets since the Iran war erupted, JPMorgan analysts said.

They also noted signs of bitcoin volatility compressing as institutional ownership deepens and market liquidity improves.
Bitcoin and gold exchange-traded funds have seen sharply diverging flows since the Iran war erupted late last month, highlighting shifting investor positioning between the two assets, according to JPMorgan analysts.

The largest gold ETF, SPDR Gold Shares (GLD), has seen outflows equal to roughly 2.7% of assets under management since the war, while the largest spot bitcoin ETF, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), recorded inflows of about 1.5% of assets over the same period, JPMorgan analysts led by managing director Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou said in a Wednesday report.

The divergence in flows since Feb. 27 has reversed the earlier year-to-date advantage gold ETFs had over bitcoin ETFs, the analysts noted. However, it did not erase the stronger outperformance gold funds had seen during the fourth quarter of 2025.
The analysts said flows since last October showed a rotation from bitcoin into gold, particularly among retail investors. During that period, IBIT saw notable outflows while GLD attracted strong inflows.

Despite that earlier shift, bitcoin ETFs still lead gold ETFs in cumulative flows over a longer period. JPMorgan analysts said IBIT’s total inflows since 2024 are roughly double those seen by GLD.

The analysts also noted that IBIT’s assets under management had nearly caught up with GLD in July last year before the gap widened again as bitcoin prices fell following the market correction.......

Nuclear power is gaining renewed attention in the United States as artificial intelligence and data center expansion drive demand for reliable, large-scale electricity.

According to the latest Miner Weekly newsletter from TheEnergyMag, recent annual filings suggest that major utilities and power producers believe the United States may be entering a “nuclear renaissance.”

The publication cited recent annual filings showing that utilities are linking the revival to long-term power contracts with AI hyperscalers such as Microsoft, Amazon and Meta Platforms.

Rather than relying solely on renewable energy credits to offset emissions, some hyperscalers are now backing entire nuclear facilities to secure around-the-clock carbon-free electricity, the publication said.

While major technology companies are increasingly turning to nuclear energy to secure long-term power supplies, Bitcoin miners were among the first to experiment with colocating high-performance computing next to large baseload energy sources.

The newsletter notes that miners recognized early that nuclear power — once viewed as a declining industry — could become critical infrastructure for the next generation of high-performance computing.

One early example was TeraWulf, which in 2021 formed a joint venture with Pennsylvania-based Talen Energy to develop the Nautilus Cryptomine facility next to the Susquehanna nuclear power plant. As TheEnergyMag reported, the mining operation was designed to draw electricity directly from the nuclear facility.

On-chain data shows the Bitcoin spot volume has shown resilience recently while the rest of the cryptocurrency sector has seen a slump.

Altcoins Have Noted A Decline In Spot Activity Since Late January
As highlighted by on-chain analytics firm Glassnode in a new post on X, Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrency market have diverged in terms of the spot trading volume.

The “spot trading volume” is a metric that measures, as its name suggests, the total amount of a given asset that’s becoming involved in trading activities in spot markets.

When the value of this indicator rises, it means more of the cryptocurrency is being shifted around on spot exchanges. Such a trend can be a sign that trading interest in the coin is going up.

On the other hand, the metric observing a decline suggests investor attention may be moving away from the asset as the amount of spot trades is trending down.

Now, here is the chart shared by Glassnode that shows the trend in the 7-day rolling mean value of the spot trading volume for Bitcoin, as well as combined that of the top 500 digital assets:

As is visible in the above graph, the aggregated spot volume for the top 500 cryptocurrencies has been on the way down since October of last year. This decline in trading activity has coincided with a drawdown for the market. Generally, periods with consolidation or bearish action tend to scare investors away, so the recent trend may not be surprising.

What’s interesting, however, is the trend followed by the spot volume of just Bitcoin. From the chart, it’s apparent that initially, the original cryptocurrency followed suit with the rest of the sector, but in February, its volume saw an uplift, including a huge spike that occurred alongside the sharp move down in the asset’s price.
