Bitcoin is facing renewed capital outflows as falling prices compress investor profits and force some large holders to exit positions.

While a major whale recently cut losses after months of holding, broader market data showed that demand has not disappeared, with traders still accumulating the asset on shorter timeframes.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin [BTC] had fallen from a recent high near $72,000 to roughly $67,000. The decline unfolded within less than 96 hours, highlighting a period of heightened volatility and weakening short-term demand.

As the market retraced, several investors began closing positions to limit further losses.

Canton's Yuval Rooz says smart contract blockchains face a reckoning over value gap

Yuval Rooz has a blunt message for the smart contract sector: If you claim to be the future plumbing of global finance, you'd better show the cash flow.

"People have assigned a lot of value to these networks based on what they say they'll become," said Rooz, CEO of Digital Asset and co-founder of the Canton Network. "But when you look at how much actual business they're doing, there's a massive disconnect."

The Canton Network is a privacy-enabled blockchain infrastructure that aims to connect financial institutions and their tokenized assets across interoperable, permissioned applications.

"The issue isn't about any single chain. Many smart contract networks were architected for retail speculation and token trading, not for regulated, institutional financial workflows," Rooz told CoinDesk in an interview.

"When you look at metrics like sustained economic throughput, recurring revenue, and real-world asset activity, there's often a disconnect between valuation and actual financial usage. Building infrastructure for global institutions requires a very different design philosophy around privacy, compliance, and interoperability," he said.

Rooz, who previously worked at DRW and Citadel before founding Canton, said he isn't anti-crypto. He drew a distinction between assets like bitcoin BTC$6760416 which the market values as

Bitcoin's recent price recovery is unfolding against a striking macro divergence that analysts say holds the key to its next move.

According to Tipper Analytics, global liquidity has climbed to nearly $190 trillion, even as Bitcoin corrected from $125,000 to $65,000. At face value, the disconnect appears anomalous. Historically, expanding liquidity has coincided with rising crypto valuations. However, the composition of that liquidity reveals a different story.

Much of the recent increase has been driven by injections from the People's Bank of China, totalling roughly $1 trillion in 2025 and potentially another trillion this year. That capital, analysts argue, does not flow into Bitcoin. Instead, it supports gold reserves, domestic infrastructure, and China's internal economy, particularly given the country's ban on cryptocurrency activity.

Ethereum is testing a key breakout zone after two separate chart analyses pointed to narrow resistance levels just overhead. If buyers clear them, ETH could target higher supply zones, but if momentum fades, the price may slip back toward support.

Ethereum approached a critical resistance level near $2,147 on the four hour chart, according to data shared by Ali Martinez on X. The chart shows ETH trading inside a horizontal range for several weeks before pushing toward the upper boundary.

This level now acts as a technical decision zone where price momentum may either continue upward or stall.

Price action between mid February and early March shows repeated reactions inside a range roughly between $1,813 support and $2,147 resistance. Buyers defended the lower zone several times. Meanwhile, sellers rejected attempts near the upper boundary. As a result, Ethereum moved sideways while forming multiple short term swings inside the channel.
