Tesla secures SpaceX stake through xAI merger ahead of IPO

Tesla has received regulatory clearance to convert its investment in Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence firm xAI into a small stake in SpaceX, formalizing financial ties between the billionaire’s companies ahead of the rocket maker’s planned initial public offering, according to a Bloomberg report.

Filings with the US Federal Trade Commission list Tesla as the acquirer of a SpaceX stake from Musk. The documents, dated March 11, also show Musk selling additional holdings to investors, including Valor Equity Partners and DFJ Growth.

The filings relate to Tesla’s previously disclosed $2 billion investment in xAI, which was recently rolled into SpaceX following the merger of the AI firm with the rocket company. The conversion would leave Tesla with a stake of less than 1% in SpaceX.

Musk previously acquired Twitter in 2022 and later merged the platform, now called X, with xAI in a $33 billion deal. That move paved the way for the SpaceX tie-up, creating a combined entity valued at about $1.75 trillion when the transaction was announced earlier this year.

The long-running belief that holding 10,000 XRP could lead to financial freedom is now being reassessed. In a recent market breakdown, analysts from Cheeky Crypto said the strategy no longer reflects the financial reality many investors face today. 

So the big question remains—is 10,000 XRP really enough? Let’s find out.

As per the analysis, for years, many retail investors believed that building a relatively small stack of XRP would eventually allow them to retire once prices climbed higher. That thinking developed during an earlier stage of the crypto market, when the cost of living was lower, and purchasing power was stronger.

Since 2021, however, inflation and rising expenses have significantly changed the equation. Even if XRP reached $10, a portfolio of 10,000 tokens would be worth about $100,000 before taxes. While that remains a solid gain, it may not provide the level of financial freedom many investors originally expected.

Under these conditions, the 10K token target is increasingly viewed as a financial buffer rather than a complete retirement plan.

In contrast, the analysts discuss what they describe as the “100,000 XRP standard.” In this framework, holding a larger position allows investors to benefit from more realistic price levels.

At a $10 valuation, a 100,000 XRP portfolio would reach roughly $1 million, a figure far closer to the type of wealth often associated with financial independence.

Instead of relying on extreme price projections such as $100 in the near term, the approach focuses on accumulating a position large enough that moderate price growth can still create substantial returns.

The shift in thinking also reflects the growing involvement of institutions across the crypto sector. The market is gradually moving beyond retail-driven speculation toward infrastructure

Yield-bearing stablecoins surge as Washington fights over yield

Yield-bearing stablecoins are growing faster than the broader stablecoin market, according to Messari, as Washington remains divided over how crypto-linked yield should be treated under US law.

Yield-bearing stablecoins have outpaced the growth of the broader stablecoin market 15-fold over the past six months, according to a Messari research report published on Thursday.

The increase was driven by a 198% rise in the market cap of Circle’s USYC (USYC), a 169% increase in Paxos’ Global Dollar (USDG), a 114% rise in the value of the Tron DAO-linked Decentralized USD (USDD), and a 91% rise in Ondo Finance’s Ondo US Dollar Yield (USDY). The overall stablecoin market capitalization rose 9%.

Messari said the largest yield-bearing stablecoins are starting to function more akin to money market funds or bank deposits. “The winners don’t do payments,” Messari said, adding that the largest issuers focus their offer on a single asset, rather than payment-related use cases.

Yield-bearing stablecoins started outpacing the growth of the stablecoin supply in mid October 2025, Messari said. The trend suggests rising demand for blockchain-based US dollar products that offer yield without direct exposure to broader crypto volatility.

Yield stablecoins are currently worth a cumulative $22.7 billion, after their market capitalization rose 11% over the past 30 days, according to Stablewatch data.

While this marks a two-fold increase overthe $11 billion market capitalization reached in May 2025, the $22.7 billion value of yield-bearing stablecoins only accounts for about 7.4% of the total $303 billion stablecoin market capitalization, up from 4.5% in May last year.

U.S. sanctions 6 people, 2 companies that laundered $800 million in crypto for North Korea



The U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on six individuals and two companies it says helped North Korea convert $800 million in 2024 into crypto to launder the money and fund its weapons of mass destruction (WMD) programs.

The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said Thursday that the operation placed IT workers into foreign companies and channeled their earnings back to Pyongyang. The network operated across multiple countries including Vietnam, Laos and Spain, according to the Treasury.

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has for years targeted cryptocurrency protocols and networks to steal and launder funds. Last year, hackers linked to the country stole a record $2 billion of crypto, according to the blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis.

The sanctioned network relied on a mix of crypto infrastructure, including centralized exchanges, hosted wallets, decentralized finance (DeFi) services and cross-chain bridges, to facilitate movement of the funds, Chainalysis said in a post on its website.

OFAC’s designation included 21 crypto wallet addresses across several blockchains including Ethereum, Tron and Bitcoin, reflecting what the Chainalysis researchers described as the DPRK’s increasingly multichain approach to moving and obscuring illicit funds.

“The North Korean regime targets American companies through deceptive schemes carried out by its overseas IT operatives, who weaponize sensitive data and extort businesses for substantial payments,” Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent said in the statement.
