Elon Musk was baited into a $80M memecoin trap – Here’s The crypto market is increasingly becoming uncontrollable in scams, with social engineering being one of the avenues. Recently, Elon Musk was baited into promoting a scam memecoin token, SLINK, linked to his company, Neuralink.The memecoin token, Shivolink [SLINK], surged past $80 million in a few hours before crashing by over 95%. Here is how the events unfolded:

How Elon Musk was social engineered to promote SLINK

The X account of Shivon Zilis, a Neuralink executive who is also the mother of Elon Musk’s four children, was compromised. The hacker then made a post that did not make it obvious that it is a crypto project.

The post was an effective way to use social engineering to get Elon to react. However, Ryan Tanaka, a podcaster about Neuralink, said that someone hacked Shivon’s X account. He wrote,

This post below is very likely compromised.

But after Elon replied to the Neuralink post with an emoji, Ryan admitted he was wrong, which suggested Elon backed the project. As a result, the memecoin rallied aggressively.
However, this sudden rally did not last, as the aftermath proved it was a pump-and-dump scheme.

The post on Shivon’s account was deleted, leading to the coin crashing below $1 million in market cap. This confirmed Ryan’s original belief, and further investigations confirmed it. The Youtuber wrote,

This was a deep hack that appeared real. If you are ever trading a crypto coin, please be very careful.

The rug pull just adds another layer of crypto scams on top of technical DeFi hacks that have already cost $2 million in the first five days of September.

Circle 通过连接三个数据点，将隔离托管与可观察的担保相结合：存放在已披露储备地址中的原生 $BTC、通过 Chainlink 储备金证明发布的链上储备金价值，以及在支持的区块链上流通的 cirBTC 供应量。当 cirBTC 被赎回时，相应的代币将从流通中移除，并释放原生 $BTC，因此流通中的代币数量不应超过储备中的 $BTC 数量。  Circle 特别指出，储备金证明并不能取代托管、赎回或智能合约尽职调查，但它允许借贷协议、做市商和资产管理公司在不完全依赖发行方声明的情况下检查抵押品。

以太坊上线，Arc 及更多未来

cirBTC 进入竞争激烈的封装比特币市场，托管和储备金透明度已成为机构决定如何在去中心化金融中使用 $BTC 的关键差异化因素。此次发布也进一步拓展了 Circle 的业务范围，使其不再局限于 $USDC 稳定币，此前 Circle 已将 $USDC 引入 Hyperliquid 等项目。预计在获得相关监管机构批准后，cirBTC 将在 Arc 主网上线时获得原生支持，并计划在未来逐步集成到其他区块链。对于持有者而言，其优势显而易见：一种在链上市场使用比特币的方式，就像 WBTC 交易所流出量最近达到六周高点时那样，同时保持对储备金的可见性。
