Ghana unveils sandbox for crypto companies as digital asset law takes effect

Ghana has launched a temporary crypto trading environment, starting with 11 companies, in preparation for the final implementation of its digital asset framework.  

According to Ghana’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the regulatory sandbox will last 12 months, with market-ready products set to graduate after 6 months. 

The watchdog added, 

This sandbox period aims to support responsible innovation while strengthening investor protection, market integrity, and compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing standards.

The data and feedback from the experiment period will inform the future licensing framework and guidelines for the sector. 

Here, it’s worth pointing out that the latest move is part of the implementation of the country’s Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, 2025 (Act 1154), to offer clear rules for the crypto trading sector.

Dubai gold experienced a rare "negative premium" last week.

Due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, many Dubai gold traders, unable to guarantee timely delivery and to avoid indefinitely incurring storage and financing costs, are selling off their inventory at a wholesale price $30 per ounce lower than the London benchmark price.

While this negative premium is primarily concentrated at the wholesale level and has not yet affected retail gold prices, it is almost unheard of in normal markets. Gold is traditionally considered one of the most liquid physical assets globally; theoretically, as long as a significant price difference exists, arbitrage funds will quickly move it to markets with higher prices, eliminating any price discrepancies.

However, this time, the arbitrage channel has been abruptly cut off by the real world.

This easily evokes memories of the negative oil prices of 2020, with the underlying logic being identical: when the delivery of physical assets incurs high transportation, insurance, and storage costs, and faces significant uncertainty, a misalignment arises between the "paper price" and the "actual value."

Following the sharp decline, price found temporary stability near the $68,000–$71,000 demand zone, where the market is currently consolidating. This suggests that selling momentum is slowing while the market attempts to establish a short-term base.

The significant separation between the 100 and 200 EMAs highlights the strength of the recent corrective phase. Any upside movement toward $72K–$80K is likely to face resistance unless BTC can reclaim these levels with strong momentum.

However, BTC continues to trade below the 0.236 Fib at $75,606, indicating that the broader market structure remains weak. A sustained recovery above $72K–$75K would be required to confirm a stronger relief rally.
