Avalanche Staking Goes Tradable as Grayscale's GAVA Hits NASDAQ

Grayscale Investments® has taken another step into tokenized finance with the launch of the Grayscale Avalanche Staking ETF, which began trading on NASDAQ on March 12, 2026, under the ticker GAVA. The new exchange-traded product is built to provide investors with exposure to AVAX, the native token of the Avalanche network, while also incorporating staking into the fund's strategy so the product may earn rewards tied to network participation.

The fund, formally called the Grayscale Avalanche Staking ETF, is structured as an exchange traded product rather than a traditional 40 Act-registered ETF, a distinction Grayscale stresses in regulatory disclosures and marketing materials. That means the product is not subject to the same Investment Company Act of 1940 rules and investor protections that govern most mutual funds and conventional ETFs; Grayscale and its filings warn that GAVA carries heightened volatility and that an investment in the product is not equivalent to a direct holding of AVAX.

SEC's advisory group backs tokenized securities push, outlines how to keep it safe

The committee that steers the U.S. securities regulator on investor issues voted to support a new effort to regulate stock transactions on blockchains. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is pushed by its Investor Advisory Committee to move forward on tokenized securities regulations.

The committee voted for recommendations that outline how such rules should proceed, citing needs for mandatory reporting and fairness in customer orders.

SEC Chairman Paul Atkins said the process is already underway to issue some direction to the industry to allow regulated tokenization.

A committee that advises the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission recommended the agency move forward on a tokenized-securities policy that would allow traders to cut out the kind of go-between settlement that Wall Street investment firms have relied on for decades.

The SEC's Investor Advisory Committee voted Thursday to recommend narrow exemptions for the blockchain-based innovation for the trading of stocks, as long as the activity comes with mandatory disclosures, routine outside supervision and "a requirement that the trading of tokenized equity securities seeks to ensure that all investors receive the best terms for their orders."

Yield-bearing stablecoins surge as Washington fights over yield

Yield-bearing stablecoins are growing faster than the broader stablecoin market, according to Messari, as Washington remains divided over how crypto-linked yield should be treated under US law.

Yield-bearing stablecoins have outpaced the growth of the broader stablecoin market 15-fold over the past six months, according to a Messari research report published on Thursday.

The increase was driven by a 198% rise in the market cap of Circle’s USYC (USYC), a 169% increase in Paxos’ Global Dollar (USDG), a 114% rise in the value of the Tron DAO-linked Decentralized USD (USDD), and a 91% rise in Ondo Finance’s Ondo US Dollar Yield (USDY). The overall stablecoin market capitalization rose 9%.

Messari said the largest yield-bearing stablecoins are starting to function more akin to money market funds or bank deposits. “The winners don’t do payments,” Messari said, adding that the largest issuers focus their offer on a single asset, rather than payment-related use cases.

Yield-bearing stablecoins started outpacing the growth of the stablecoin supply in mid October 2025, Messari said. The trend suggests rising demand for blockchain-based US dollar products that offer yield without direct exposure to broader crypto volatility.

Yield stablecoins are currently worth a cumulative $22.7 billion, after their market capitalization rose 11% over the past 30 days, according to Stablewatch data.

While this marks a two-fold increase overthe $11 billion market capitalization reached in May 2025, the $22.7 billion value of yield-bearing stablecoins only accounts for about 7.4% of the total $303 billion stablecoin market capitalization, up from 4.5% in May last year.

The Fed is readying to punish banks for holding Bitcoin as US crypto tensions boil over

Basel’s thresholds and punitive risk weights can make direct Bitcoin exposure prohibitively expensive even when it’s legally permitted.

The next big Bitcoin policy fight may have nothing to do with ETFs or government legislation, but with a dry Federal Reserve capital proposal that most investors will never read.

The landscape is simple: will big banks continue to treat Bitcoin as a balance sheet hazard, or will US capital rules begin to leave room for more serious bank intermediation around it?

With the Fed expected to vote next week on a revised Basel proposal and then open a 90-day comment window, this little-noticed rulemaking could become one of the most important banking decisions for Bitcoin in years.

Reuters reported on Mar. 12 that the Fed plans to vote next week on a revised Basel proposal for large banks and then open a 90-day public comment period.

Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman said the same day that proposals covering Basel III and the G-SIB surcharge would be published in the coming week.

Most crypto investors do not care about prudential terminology, but they do care about whether their bank will eventually offer better Bitcoin services, whether crypto firms can more easily secure bank relationships, and whether Wall Street integration expands beyond ETFs.

The current Basel framework is restrictive enough to make those questions materially harder for banks to answer.

This all comes amid increasing tension between the US crypto industry and banks as they continue to clash over the stalled Clarity Act. The President chose a side this month by directly blaming banks for the delay.

Bitcoin's building steam and a $3 billion trigger could make it wild

Bitcoin BTC$72,556.52 looks to be gathering bullish momentum, with volatility expected to increase as prices near a $3 billion trigger point.
The leading cryptocurrency by market value climbed through $72,100 during European hours, the widely tracked average price over the past 50 days. According to analysts, a firm move above this level would confirm bullish momentum, potentially drawing in more buyers.

Volatility is likely to pick up should prices near $75,000. That's where options market makers, who provide order-book liquidity and ensure a seamless trading experience, are holding net "short gamma" positions worth $3 billion, according to Markus Thielen, the founder of 10x Research.

It means that as prices climb toward that level, these entities are likely to buy to rebalance their net exposure to neutral even as prices rise. This so-called dealer hedging could boost market volatility, potentially accelerating any rally. Note that market makers make money through the bid-ask spread, not price direction.
"The options market shows roughly $3 billion of negative gamma exposure at the $75,000 strike, meaning dealers are likely short gamma around this level. As Bitcoin moves higher toward this region, dealer hedging flows can begin to play a more important role in shaping price dynamics," Thielen said in a note to clients.

That's not, however, a set-in-concrete scenario. Alex Kuptsikevich, the chief market analyst at FxPro, worries that macro headwinds will arrest gains in bitcoin.

"External factors are acting as a headwind, including rising oil and dollar prices, as well as the Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 indices falling to their 200-day lows.
