Hackers mint trillions in fake Bitcoin, but 15 BTC bridge recovery leaves liquidity providers unpaid
Cross-chain protocol Symbiosis said it recovered approximately 15 $BTC after an attacker exploited its native Bitcoin Bridge, but affected liquidity providers still lack compensation terms as a Sep. 13 bounty window nears its unspecified cutoff.

The vulnerability was exploited at about 04:28 UTC on Sep. 11, according to the protocol's incident statement. Symbiosis said only the Bitcoin Bridge was affected and that its other routes and components remained operational. It specifically listed routes spanning EVM chains, TRON and TON as unaffected, and said its relayer group continued operating to secure the network. The protocol said the recovered bitcoin is secured in a team-controlled multisig.

The 15 $BTC figure is simply the amount Symbiosis says it recovered to date. The protocol said final accounting remained in progress and that it would publish confirmed figures in another update.

Security firm Blockaid reported that a transaction accepted as signed by Symbiosis's BridgeV2 system minted approximately 2^62 raw units of syBTC, a synthetic representation of bitcoin, to a newly created wallet on BNB Chain.

Blockaid said the same beneficiary sold about 4.39 WBTC on Ethereum, realizing roughly $336,000 in WBTC proceeds at the time of its alert. That figure covers value Blockaid observed the attacker convert. It does not establish Symbiosis's final loss or the total exposure of liquidity providers.

Symbiosis initially said Bitcoin-related swaps were unavailable while it deployed updates. In a later operational update, the protocol said Bitcoin swaps routed through partners Chainflip and THORChain were back online, while the native Symbiosis Bitcoin Bridge remained paused.

Arbitrum [ARB] was the biggest loser this week, plummeting 27%. But with the move coming on the back of ARB’s 124% weekly increase, it looks more like a cooldown with resistance forming in the $0.20 zone.

Of course, the main question is if the sell-off will turn into a correction or just a minor adjustment. Interestingly, the technicals have some answers by taking a look at the price in the context of the RSI.

Despite the 124% rally last week, ARB’s RSI never entered the overbought area. Which means that the long weekly increase never became too extended.

At the same time, the bullish run pushed ARB’s price higher into the mid-January resistance in the $0.20 level, so the sell-off looks more like a reaction and not a bearish shift in the overall trend.

So, if buyers hold the key support, ARB could stabilize and make another attempt at the $0.20 resistance.

Ethena [ENA] finished the week down 21%, placing it as the second-lowest performer for the week. Unlike the case with ARB, ENA appears poised to hold on to the $0.15 level.

It is the third consecutive week that the asset has been testing the level, indicating potential for buyers to accumulate the dips.

That being said, ENA’s RSI has turned lower, suggesting that buyer enthusiasm is cooling down. As such, the setup is conducive to either a prolonged accumulation period or the possibility of a bull trap. In this context, the first critical level to watch out for is $0.10.

If ENA fails to hold above this level, it would indicate that the recent corrective rally was indeed a trap.

On the other hand, if ENA manages to hold on to the $0.15 level and RSI starts moving higher, this may indicate that the buying pressure is gathering

$VVV’s bullish price action seemed to coincide with an emerging event in the Veil ecosystem too.

The Multi-Asset Pool of Veil is now up and running on Base, letting users deposit supported ERC20 and B20 tokens. The $VVV token is one of the five supported tokens in the pool.

This event marks a clear improvement in market sentiment for $VVV.

That’s not all either as the token’s derivatives activity has also been expanding alongside the rally. For instance, the Open Interest for $VVV jumped by 16% to $53 million. This suggested that traders might be bagging in more positions as the token gets close to the next technical level.



The alignment of $VVV technicals and surging market exposure suggested that fresh capital may be entering the market and reinforces the continuation setup by availing the required volatility for the anticipated aggressive push.

If this trend persists, derivatives positioning could lend additional momentum towards $21.

Senate Democrats Hold Last-Minute Meeting Ahead of Crucial Crypto Vote
Senate Democrats are holding a last-minute caucus meeting on Sunday evening to discuss the Clarity Act ahead of a crucial procedural vote scheduled for Tuesday.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is convening the meeting as lawmakers continue trying to resolve several major disagreements surrounding the landmark cryptocurrency market structure bill, according to Politico.

The Tuesday vote is expected to determine whether the legislation can move forward to broader Senate consideration.

The outcome remains uncertain

A group of roughly a dozen Democratic senators has spent months negotiating over the bill, but several major issues are still unresolved.

Among the lawmakers involved in the discussions are Senators Kirsten Gillibrand, Mark Warner, Ruben Gallego, Lisa Blunt Rochester, Andy Kim and Angela Alsobrooks, according to crypto commentator Chad Steingraber.

The legislation will need 60 votes to advance. Assuming all voting Republicans back the measure, at least several Democratic senators would also have to support the procedural motion.

Democrats are pushing for stricter conflict-of-interest restrictions, which remain the key obstacle so far.

The Senate Banking Committee previously advanced the legislation in May in a bipartisan 15-9 vote.

A fresh version of the roughly 630-page bill was unveiled on Thursday.

Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz said earlier on Sunday that negotiations were continuing over the weekend.

Tuesday's procedural vote would make it possible for the legislation to move toward full Senate consideration.

As reported by U.Today, Senator Cynthia Lummis has warned that failure to advance the legislation could delay comprehensive cryptocurrency market structure legislation for years.
