Solana is drawing renewed market attention after on-chain data revealed fresh activity from Alameda Research wallets. According to blockchain analytics platform Arkham, Alameda recently unstaked approximately $17 million worth of SOL and transferred the tokens to its bankruptcy-controlled accounts. These movements are part of the firm’s ongoing asset management process, as funds recovered from the estate are periodically redistributed to creditors.

Alameda Research was once one of the most influential trading firms in the cryptocurrency industry. Founded by Sam Bankman-Fried, the company operated as a quantitative trading desk closely tied to the FTX cryptocurrency exchange. Alameda played a major role in providing liquidity across digital asset markets and maintained large positions in several major cryptocurrencies, including Solana.

However, the firm collapsed in November 2022 following the dramatic failure of FTX. Investigations revealed that billions of dollars in customer funds had been misused and transferred between the exchange and Alameda, triggering a liquidity crisis that quickly spiraled into one of the largest bankruptcies in crypto history.

Since then, Alameda’s remaining digital assets have been gradually managed through court-supervised bankruptcy proceedings. The periodic unstaking and distribution of SOL tokens reflects the ongoing effort to recover value for creditors while liquidating portions of the estate’s remaining cryptocurrency holdings.

Solana ETFs are breaking records even as SOL prices are in a downtrend. While bearish sentiment dominates the crypto market, billions of dollars continue to flow in, painting a contrasting picture between price action and institutional demand. As the cryptocurrency attempts a recovery, analysts are once again eyeing a return to the $100 level. However, the question remains whether the current ETF momentum could be the catalyst that drives a price recovery.

Solana ETFs Hit Record Levels Amidst Price Decline
Solana has been experiencing a rough stretch in the markets lately, with its price falling well below $100 and hitting a low of $85. The drop marks a prolonged bearish trend that has tested the patience of many investors who entered the market at higher levels.

Despite weak price action, Solana Spot ETFs are attracting capital at an unprecedented rate, surprising even seasoned market watchers. This suggests that long-term conviction in the cryptocurrency remains strong even as short-term selling persists.

Notably, Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas brought Solana’s ETF numbers into focus in a recent post on X, highlighting that the investment fund has accumulated an impressive $1.5 billion in net inflows since its launch in July 2025. He noted that this remarkable growth occurred despite SOL’s 57% price crash from its ETF launch date, which was one of the toughest debut periods for any ETF product.

Balchunas pointed out that when Solana’s market cap is compared to Bitcoin’s, the numbers look even more impressive. On that basis, the inflows into Solana are roughly $54 billion for Spot Bitcoin ETFs, approximately double what BTC itself attracted at the same point in its ETF journey. He noted that the key difference here is that Bitcoin was surging at the time, whereas Solana reached equivalent inflows while in decline.

On-chain data shows the Bitcoin spot volume has shown resilience recently while the rest of the cryptocurrency sector has seen a slump.

As highlighted by on-chain analytics firm Glassnode in a new post on X, Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrency market have diverged in terms of the spot trading volume.

The “spot trading volume” is a metric that measures, as its name suggests, the total amount of a given asset that’s becoming involved in trading activities in spot markets.

When the value of this indicator rises, it means more of the cryptocurrency is being shifted around on spot exchanges. Such a trend can be a sign that trading interest in the coin is going up.

On the other hand, the metric observing a decline suggests investor attention may be moving away from the asset as the amount of spot trades is trending down.

Now, here is the chart shared by Glassnode that shows the trend in the 7-day rolling mean value of the spot trading volume for Bitcoin, as well as combined that of the top 500 digital assets:

As is visible in the above graph, the aggregated spot volume for the top 500 cryptocurrencies has been on the way down since October of last year. This decline in trading activity has coincided with a drawdown for the market. Generally, periods with consolidation or bearish action tend to scare investors away, so the recent trend may not be surprising.

What’s interesting, however, is the trend followed by the spot volume of just Bitcoin. From the chart, it’s apparent that initially, the original cryptocurrency followed suit with the rest of the sector, but in February, its volume saw an uplift, including a huge spike that occurred alongside the sharp move down in the asset’s price.

Housebuilder Persimmon Posts Profit 
Persimmon reported a 13% rise in 2025 underlying profit to £445.6 million after it recorded a 12% increase in the number of new home completions to 11,905. 

Its operating margin improved by 20 basis points to 14.3%. The builder described current market conditions as supportive. In the first nine weeks of this year, the net private sales rate per outlet per week rose 9%.

“Assuming the conflict with Iran and its impact is short, Persimmon is set to grow again in 2026,” said Chief Executive Dean Finch.

Gainers and Losers
International Consolidated Airlines Group advanced 5.73% to £378.10 as lower oil prices improved the outlook for airline operating costs. Fuel expenses are one of the largest cost components for airlines. Falling crude oil prices boosted the airline sector. 

Engineering specialist Spirax Group also delivered a strong performance, jumping 5.46% to £7,440, while mining giant Antofagasta rose 4.81% to £3,838 as commodity stocks recovered.

Meanwhile, Anglo American gained 4.64% to £3,272, and Barclays climbed 4.57% to £415.55, supported by improved investor sentiment.

On the downside, Energy major Shell declined 2.15% to £3,138, while BP fell 2.30% to £498.25 as crude oil prices came down sharply from recent highs.

Defense contractor BAE Systems dropped 1.20% to £2,232, while London Stock Exchange Group slipped 0.25% to £8,640.
