Pumpfun Launches Automated Buyback Tool for AI Agent Tokens

Solana-based memecoin launchpad pumpfun has rolled out a new feature that connects AI agents to tokenonomics, allowing projects to automatically funnel agent-generated revenue into token buybacks and burns.

The tool, called Tokenized Agents, targets what pumpfun describes as a core problem in the growing "agentic economy" – a lack of value alignment between successful AI agent projects and the communities that form around them.

How It Works

Under the new system, developers launch a token on the platform, set a revenue buyback percentage, and integrate their agent using a provided configuration file. When the agent earns revenue, whether from SaaS products, trading, or other sources, a portion is automatically used to buy back and burn the token.

Buybacks are executed by a centralized buyback authority and instantly burned. Only revenue denominated in SOL and USDC is eligible, and a minimum threshold of $10 in accumulated revenue is required before a buyback is triggered.

It’s worth noting that the agents themselves are not deployed on pumpfun, whose role is limited to enabling the onchain buyback-and-burn mechanism tied to the token.

It's time to look at the abyss and stop acting like this industry will in any way recover if the leaders continue to act like everything is fine and the 50th perps DEX will solve this.

The Death of the Crypto VC sector is slowly unfolding during the past few months. LP commitments have been on a low and didn't even remotely recover during a generational $16k -> $120k bull market. VCs like Mechanism/Tangent literally pivoted away from crypto. Half of the Paradigm team ragequit in the last 2 months, entire firms silently exited everything. Barely any crypto VC has been able to raise for another fund and the venture appetite is close to zero.

Please for the love of god look at the data & stop coping that this in any way is normal or will recover for a sector claiming to be on the frontier of technology. The risk appetite inside venture has been off the charts in the last 3 years, blockchain received only outflows. I spoke to so many VCs (both tradfi and crypto) in the past month, and close to nobody was optimistic about them being able to raise for another crypto-fund.

We are at the tail end of blockchain innovation.

"Oh ownership coins fix this" No they don't. Sorry to burst your bubble, but as the founder of a company doing "ownership" structures, this fixes exactly nothing. It's a band-aid of complacency. I'd argue it actually makes it worse, because no talented young founder will chose to give anonymous tokenholders full control of their business, it just turns crypto even more into this autistic cypherpunk delusion.

AI layoffs are spreading across tech — here’s why Bitcoin investors should care.
After years of claims that AI will cause chaos in the labor market, sentiment seems to be at an all-time low around AI layoffs, with social media accounts surfacing to track how fast white-collar tech work is already being hollowed out.

Reality is less straightforward. Companies are cutting selectively, management teams are using AI and efficiency language more openly, and hiring is shifting toward AI-heavy and infrastructure-heavy roles faster than unemployment is rising. That gap suggests the labor market narrative is changing before the labor market has fully broken.

The strongest evidence sits at the company level. Amazon confirmed a relatively small round of robotics cuts on March 4. Block said it would cut 4,000 of 10,000 employees, with Jack Dorsey tying the move to AI productivity. Pinterest said it would trim less than 15% of staff while reallocating toward AI-focused roles. Atlassian announced about 1,600 cuts and said AI is changing the mix of skills it needs.

Those are the on-record examples of management teams changing headcount plans around AI, productivity, and restructuring.

But posts on social media, suggesting that AI has already produced a clear, economy-wide white-collar employment shock, still run ahead of the data.

Anecdotal stories are now capturing real fear within software organizations. However, they do not, on their own, verify every dramatic claim about team replacement, performance-score purges, or overnight engineering compression.

The most important case from here is Oracle, because it ties labor pressure directly to AI infrastructure finance.
